Leaking 15 degree roof with Velux windows and Sandtoft 20/20

15 degrees always seems very low for tiles, zinc would have been a better option on that pitch. It is possible to strip the roof fit 18mm ply onto the roof and have zinc fitted on top? When you have a pitch below 20 degrees the chances of being plagued with problems increases massively...

    Roof under window cill

Lower the pitch of the roof so it finishes further below the window and have a zinc roof which will cope with the low pitch :D

    "Inverted" dormer detail

A warmfast zinc roof would be appropriate and the same material can be used for the whole roof including the inverted dormer and flashings. Even the gutters and down pipes can be fitted using matching zinc.

New Flat roof - Single Ply membrane or Zinc/lead

I'd be surprised if the pitched roof isn't vented. Like I said a good vapour barrier would solve any issues. If you give me some rough measurements I can give you a ball park figure.

New Flat roof - Single Ply membrane or Zinc/lead

Venting, cold or warm roofs is now regarded a must generally with most roof coverings. Condensation occurs when warm moist air hits a cold surface. Whatever the roof covering when covered in snow it will be considerably colder than the inside air temperature. There are 2 ways to combat this--...

    rubber instead of felt

I love the passion!! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'd be slightly worried about the adhesive used on a epdm roof, I know there is a maximum moisture content for the roof to be guaranteed. Most guarantees state the roof will require repair and maintenance over it's life. Maybe...

    leaking flat roofs

I think all roofing products are only as good as the installation. I've seen zinc roofs that wouldn't last a week........ Every product has it's pros and cons, all the roofers on here are desperate to defend their products. On a job today they're replacing a slate roof which is 16...

    leaking flat roofs

Yes the estimate was just for the zinc covering. It's more than likely the decking needs replacing and if you're going to all that trouble it would make sense to increase the amount of insulation while you have the chance. If you're still interested and you're considering zinc I could look at a...

How to do 5m "horizontal" valley

Xenon- you sound like a politician........ Roofer- I've seen these in lead but I don't think they're available in copper, zinc and stainless steel which is why we make caps for the hard metals.

How to do 5m "horizontal" valley

If you went for lead the material cost including fixings and expansion joint would be around £400 the material cost including fixings for stainless steel would be less than £100 and I'm pretty sure the labour cost would be the same for both......... T-Pren isn't a new product I can honestly...

How to do 5m "horizontal" valley

On a 5m run of valley if done in stainless steel it wouldn't need to have any joints and could be made perfectly level, the more joints you introduce you increase the risk of leaks. It could be done in zinc or copper to the same effect but this would be my recommendation.

How to do 5m "horizontal" valley

We use T- Pren everyday on copper, zinc, lead and stainless steel. We offer a lifetime guarantee with all of our work. Never had a problem with the product..... I think the main worry is the durability of the rubber with all the weather and UV thrown at it for long periods. We always make...

How to do 5m "horizontal" valley

Not sure what you mean by drip up and drip down but I think you're asking for trouble on that pitch if the lead isn't joined properly. The t-pren joints have been around for years and I haven't seen one fail yet....... Code 5 isn't enough and it's going to be very expensive if done properly in...
