Identifying heating flow and return pipes on boiler.

I have a boiler that powers the central heating and hot water storage tank with no valves. I am going to add an extra Zone into the central heating. From the boiler there are 2x 22mm pipes and 2x 28mm pipes. I need to know which ones to fit the 2x 2-way valves into. I can't see where the pipes...

Adding an extra Zone in central heating.

Thanks. It's in the loft so no-ones going to see it! Also at the price of £28.99 for 30 meters of 22mm I couldn't refuse!

Adding an extra Zone in central heating.

I meant get away with using valves only on the flow. That's saved me £90 then thanks! What's the minimum distance from the boiler I can use John Guest connectors? Is it 1.5 meters?

Adding an extra Zone in central heating.

I need to add an extra Zone into my central heating that's independently controlled. I'm going to use 2x 2-way valves, one in the original pipework and the other on the new zone that comes off of a T. Do I need to do this on both the flow and return or can I get away with doing it on just the...

    Central Heating for pond.

You mean an electric heater? I would need a 3kW one which would obviously use a lot of electricity. The reason for using gas is to save money. It's the pond that's being heated, probably to only 10 degree's. I will be using a heat exchanger similar to these, probably the 100,000 or...

    Central Heating for pond.

Someone is coming next week to fit some valves onto the central heating to create a new central heating zone. ie. A radiator circuit that can be controlled separately to the rest of the house. Hopefully the valves should be installed near the hot water cylinder. The pipes will then leave the...

    Mould in corner of room.

We're pretty sure it's not condensation due to the damage to the coving where it looks like the water has come through. Still don't know how its getting in though?!

    Mould in corner of room.

Well, the mould came back after treating it. Also, more water was appearing on it. The water has created a gap between the coving and the wall, also where the coving is joined it has cracked. We had someone look at the roof who said the tiles were fine but the felt needed repairing...

    Mould in corner of room.

Ok, thanks. I'll open the window more often! Do I need to use anything to stop the mould speading? Will spraying something that kills bacteria onto it help?

    Mould in corner of room.

We have noticed mould in a corner of a room gradually getting worse: It's a dormer bungalow, so the roof eaves are above this corner of this room. There is a room above this which effectively in the loft, this room has a dormer window. I've taken apart one of the fitted wardrobes and...

    Where to buy rebar.

Jewsons had some thanks! I'd tried Travis Perkins, Selco and a couple of builders merchants, but they didn't seem to know what it was!

    Where to buy rebar.

Does anyone know where to buy straight lengths of Rebar in the east manchester area? There are obviously on-line places to buy, but I only need 2 pieces of 16mm and the delivery would be £40!

    No water in pump!

It was a serious question, I was wondering why they are so much better!

    No water in pump!

No idea. He didn't really seem to want to fit it anyway. But he said they are much better value for money!

    No water in pump!

Why not? Logetivity? Power? Noise? Colour? It cost £45 I think and the Grundfos was £85, and I prefer the colour. I saw a cheap one for £30! The old Grundfos is going in the workshop to pump water from the waterbutt to the sink (hopefully).

    No water in pump!

I got fed up with it in the end and called a man out to fix it. He said the pump was working, but not working as well as it should, he also suggested a more powerful (15-60) pump because of the set-up. He told me the best way to bleed my system too. I changed the pump (Wilo Gold RS60, any...

    No water in pump!

Ok, thanks. I'll try and take it apart tomorrow.

    No water in pump!

Nope, it was pushing air out with force when it was off, a screwdriver via the bleed screw didn't affect it's movement either!
