    Any screed experts??

Hello Had a 80-100 mm sand/cement screed laid over 75mm insulation in a 6 m x 4 m conservatory. Company doing it did not add any reinforcement or fibres (even though their quote clearly states reinforced with mesh) Does it need reinforcement? Info varies, some say as its 75mm+ it...

UFH - max slab temp and floor probe location??

Haven't read it yet, been busy :| UFH is widley stated as working with water temps of 30 to 60 degrees, so screed must be able to withstand this or it would not be the recommended medium for UFH????????????? I see what you are saying tho, I will read your link. The other conundrum is...

UFH - max slab temp and floor probe location??

50 degrees  No, I said water temp is 50 degrees, and I will then drop it back and run it at 40 degrees. Slab is running at approx 32 degrees, as measured using a probe laid into the slab (not surface temp) which gives a room temp of 20 degrees, considering it's freezing outside...

UFH - max slab temp and floor probe location??

Thanks Tony I plan to go upto 50 degrees to condition the slab then drop it back to 40 degrees as this seemed to heat the room fine. Floor surface temp is quite low, I don't think its anywhere near 30 degrees, the probe in the screed is measuring 33 degrees max, floor surface temp would be...

UFH - max slab temp and floor probe location??

I installed it myself, company supplying the kit designed it, off the shelf type thing. It works, just wanted to check what the screed temp should be as everywhere talks about surface temp??

Moving water pipes and chasing radiator pipes into a wall.

About 2 hours max, if that! I'd probably allow half a day by time plumber has driven there, unloaded tools, played on their phone, stared out the window, had 4 cups of tea etc. Personally I would repair the pipe you knicked, last this you want is a leak, but will probably be ok.

UFH - max slab temp and floor probe location??

Hi, I have wet UFH in a newbuild 6m x 4m conservatory. Does anyone know what temp the slab (screed) should be ideally? I've only just switched it on so am heating it up slowly, using floor probe mid depth in the screed to raise the temp by 2 degrees per day while slowly increasing the inlet...

    Air bricks and a conservatory

Yeah sorry, block and beam floor so requires airbricks - not as important as wooden floors I undrstand but still needed. I've extended all the airbricks to the outside, I've gone 2 pipes diagonally to both sides of the new conservatory (4 in tot) as that's where the builder put the...

    Air bricks and a conservatory

Thanks for the replies. The main problem is that the builders have laid the slab without putting the vent pipes in so they will have to go in the 75mm insulation and under the screed, which isn't ideal but it's all I can do. The rear wall the conservatory is single skin as we have doors all...

    Air bricks and a conservatory

Anyone? All the airbbricks will be extended, they will just vent out of the sides rather than to the rear of to property. Thinking that all parts of the floor will still have ventilation so shouldn't get stale air??

    Air bricks and a conservatory

Hello I'm building a conservatory right across the back of a detached house that has a block and beam floor. There are 4 air bricks that I will extend under the conservatory floor to the outside. Can I extend the air bricks to either side (ie 2 in each side wall of the conservatory) or will...

Downlighters - does this sound right?

Could have fooled me! Must be a "happy on the inside" kinda guy  Like I said I had 2 sparks round who didn't say anything or seem to have a problem with what I was suggesting, one told me what to do. He did say 35w bulbs but the lamps I brought only came with 50w bulbs. Rather than just...

Downlighters - does this sound right?

Well I've no plans to move and I pay the bills do its my descision at the end of the day. You are one very rude man, I do appreciate your points and may reconsider what I have done/change the bulbs/fittingdto reduce the load but seriously you need to cheer the **** up, you could have said...

Downlighters - does this sound right?

What is your problem? Are you just one of these people that like to moan? There's nothing wrong with what I've done, it's very common and I like the look and the light provided by downlights. My rooms are very big and only have a window at one end which are both obscured by a...

Downlighters - does this sound right?

Thanks for the replies. We've only been in the house for a few weeks and the previous owner liked those lamps that have 3+ GU10s in one fitting. I have 150W just in the closet downstairs toilet!! We have 4 lamps just in our hallway if you include the wall light  The kitchen had 6...

Downlighters - does this sound right?

Hi, had some sparks round to quote to fit some lamps but neither wanted the job (amazingly!) and second one told me what to do, I'm a plumber so know a little (which can be quite dangerous!!). Could someone see if this all sounds ok? I've wired 8x50w 240v fire rated downlights (bedrooms...
