    Replace espag handle with cockspur?

Morning all, Our uPVC bathroom window's handle turns but it doesn't move the mushroom cams so I can't close/lock it. I'm thinking the problem is the spindle part that the handle's bar inserts into (this corroded on my car door as well and broke up). When turning the handle the cams attempt to...

Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher - "Delicates" light flas

Cheap Wickes, that's what I'm using. That's was I thought. It definitely reads 25 ohms, without a doubt. Just don't get a buzz when set to continuity. I'll trust the resistance. I tested all the wires with the continuity tester...I think I'll leave it at that. Thanks again for all your...

Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher - "Delicates" light flas

Sorry to bump this thread but I have another quick question before I order the new PCB... I stripped the dishwasher down again last night just to be sure. I tested the NTC and it responded fine to being in boiling water and freezing cold water (resistance changed dramatically), the wiring is...

Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher - "Delicates" light flas

Thanks, mate. Just as a matter of interest, what is the difference between this one and the other one (http://www.ransomspares.co.uk/parts/hotpoint/timer-bit1001-e2-rohs--n1045048/164091.htm?m=4903)?

Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher - "Delicates" light flas

I checked the NTC. It seemed okay but I took it off anyway, bent the bit of metal a little that keeps it in place (to make it a tighter fit) and put it all back. It made no difference. I will try this again though, before I buy any parts. The model details (from the label on the door) are as...

Hotpoint FDW60 dishwasher - "Delicates" light flas

Hi all, Last week I noticed that our dishwasher wasn't washing properly. On a normal cycle it stops halfway through and the "Delicates" light remains flashing. Upon a little reading I understand this is down to it the heater, etc. I've metered the heater and it read 25-26 ohms. I've...

Quick question about part 2 float valve washers

Thanks for your reply, mate. I was actually intending (and did) replace the whole valve. I just couldn't remember what washers I needed for the connection to the feed, and if any were needed where it fixes to the tank. I had a couple of spare 1/2" fibre washers and the hole is reinforced by a...

Quick question about part 2 float valve washers

Afternoon all, I've just had a phone call from the missus who said that water is pouring out of the overflow pipe and it's coming from the cold water tank in the loft. I got her to check and the ball was below the level of the water so it's clearly sticking (I only changed it 2-3 years ago)...

    Swapping gas hob

Afternoon all, Tomorrow we're having our kitchen worktops replaced and at the same time we though it'd be good to change our electric oven and gas hob. I couldn't get a gas man at such short notice (admittedly I haven't tried them ALL) but I still want the work to go ahead. I plan to...

Fitting new radiator - quick tail extension question?

I now understand about extending both sides. Okay, I've been to screwfix. 78169 is just a double pack of 17552. 15531 IS what I need for the TRV, however it's discontinued. So my next question is.. Can I just cut the 3/4"end of one of the two extensions I've got and put an...

Fitting new radiator - quick tail extension question?

One side won't be long enough? Difference between the two radiators is 47mm and these extend by 50mm?

Fitting new radiator - quick tail extension question?

Cheers mate. That one's out of stock so it looks like I'll only be extending one side after all...

Fitting new radiator - quick tail extension question?

Really sorry to bump this, guys. I'm popping into Screwfix on my way home from work in about 20 minutes and was wondering if anyone knew the answer. I'm just trying to avoid asking the guy in the shop...apologies once again.

Fitting new radiator - quick tail extension question?

Hi guys, I want to replace a radiator - the old one is imperial (1047mm I think) and the new one I'm looking at is 1000mm. One valve is just a standard lockshield so I know that if I'm to extend it I need one of these: http://www.screwfix.com/p/radiator-union-valve-tail/78169 This will...

    Bubbles, wallpapering drying and dehumidifiers

That's interesting, John. I suppose I could always throw the dehumidifier in the room as well. I don't think I have to worry about it drying out too quick

    Bubbles, wallpapering drying and dehumidifiers

I think it's safe to say I went a little overboard with the sealing and sizing. In this instance it's not just the drying time that's retarded. Cheers for all your help, mate.

    Bubbles, wallpapering drying and dehumidifiers

Just an update... I left a heater on low overnight and this morning the bubbles had almost gone in the plasterboard wall. They were a lot worse on the sections that had jointing compound but even these are now only just slightly raised. That Wickes plasterboard sealer really does do what it...

    Bubbles, wallpapering drying and dehumidifiers

No, Wickes plasterboard sealer. PVA'd a newly plastered wall once, before painting. Got away with it that time (over 5 years ago). It helped that I read the instructions wrong and used less than half the PVA that was recommended.
