Hi guys,

I want to replace a radiator - the old one is imperial (1047mm I think) and the new one I'm looking at is 1000mm. One valve is just a standard lockshield so I know that if I'm to extend it I need one of these:

This will be long enough to make up the difference, but if I wanted to balance the extension out to both valves what extension will I need when the TRV is one of the following?:

http://www.screwfix.com/p/danfoss-ras-c-white-chrome-trv-15mm-angled/70871

Is this the correct one?:

And if I do decide to use two do I need to chop it down to size or does the excess tubing just slide into the radiator inlet/outlet?

Many thanks in advance...
Paul.

Really sorry to bump this, guys. I'm popping into Screwfix on my way home from work in about 20 minutes and was wondering if anyone knew the answer. I'm just trying to avoid asking the guy in the shop...apologies once again.

Your first link to product code 78169, that is what you will need for the TRV and maybe your lockshield valve.

The other link to product code 17552, that extension will fit a manual valve with a 3/4" connection on the valve body, mostly used on the cheaper end of the rad valve market.

They are telescopic. The excess goes into the radiator.

Cheers mate. That one's out of stock so it looks like I'll only be extending one side after all...

One side won't be long enough? Difference between the two radiators is 47mm and these extend by 50mm?

now take in to account the tail thats already in the rad to valve.
your only accounting for the diiference in rad size thats 47mm.

I now understand about extending both sides.

Okay, I've been to screwfix. 78169 is just a double pack of 17552. 15531 IS what I need for the TRV, however it's discontinued. So my next question is..

Can I just cut the 3/4"end of one of the two extensions I've got and put an olive/compression joint to attach to the TRV (effectively making it a 15531)? Or is the tail not made for a compression?
