    Telescopic Shower Rail

Why don't you want to drill the tiles? You won't see the holes with the rail in place.

    Dog Owners...

Dogs have the ability to turn a perfectly habitable abode into a hovel in a short space of time. Ideally, they should only be permitted to lie in their beds and that is something I have tried to practice with all my dogs - I have owned dogs for over 30 years - but the reality is there will be...

    Shiplap external timber supplies

    >i used 86m for my shed [walls and roof]that was just enough < 86m? I've worked out that I need 135.2m for my shed including the floor but that includes doubling up the end studs on the walls that overlap as shown here http://www.buildeazy.com/shed_2.html. The good news is that I can buy...

    Shiplap external timber supplies

Thanks again big-all. Lawsons gave me a quote for the rest of the timber but not the ship-lap so I assume they don't stock it. I haven't tried Braemount yet. What size timbers did you use to build the shed? I like the idea of the access doors to the roof area where you have your timber. I...

    Shiplap external timber supplies

I think Brownlees used to be there but I can't think of anyone else and neither BT or Yell list anyone in that area :( I had hoped that I might be able to build a reasonably substantial 10' x 8' shed for around £400-450 but I don't think this is going to happen

    Shiplap external timber supplies

Thanks big-all. I can't think of any off hand but I'll have a look through the yellow pages.

    Shiplap external timber supplies

I've been searching for a supplier of shiplap cladding in Central Scotland without much success. Keyline was the only one I found and I think they are a bit pricey. I'm looking for about 220 metres. Can anyone help with this?

What's a radial circuit and how would I be able to tell if I had one?

    plastering ceilings

Yes I did. I ended up giving the plaster a bit of a rub down then filled in the holes and hollows then gave it a couple of coats of emulsion. Admittedly it's a far from perfect job, in fact it still has a bit of a texture to it. However, I think this texture gives it a bit of an olde worlde...

How to hang a bathroom cabinet

Hammer action makes the job so much easier but if you start of with a masonry bit of around 3 - 4mm then use progressively larger bits until you have the correct size of hole then you should manage. One point though, if you have a variable speed drill, the larger bits should be used with a...

No, I left it in the hope that there might be some way of camouflaging it.

    plastering ceilings

That's what I did but fell down badly on the skimming :( . Doesn't matter what I do I end up with an uneven skim that has lots of holes in it. Where am I going wrong and more to the point, how can I camouflage this mess?

    Gap for laminate flooring

Well, after all that; the base unit was over 200mm lower than the height of the worktop so I fixed it to allow for a 150mm plinth. Problem solved ... I think  Thanks again guys.

    Gap for laminate flooring

The units don't have adjustable feet. I've seen laminate flooring advertised at 7mm and 8mm thicknesses and underlay at 3mm thick but the guy seems to think the underlay is about 10mm thick. Thanks for the responses guys.

    Gap for laminate flooring

I am converting a corner of a garage into a utility room. The owner intends fitting laminate flooring after I have installed the worktop and units. Rather than sit the units on the concrete floor and have the guy cut the flooring to fit round them I intend leaving a gap so he can fit his...

    Wood Stain / Varnish

    >What wood are they made from?< Now you're asking. They aren't my windows, they belong to an aquaintance but I got the impression they were made from some kind of softwood. They had last been stained about 4 years ago and were badly needing done again. Incidentally, Hickson do a light oak...

    Wood Stain / Varnish

I just did some external woodwork with Hickson Decor Wood Stain and I'm quite impressed, especially by its coverage. A little goes a long way!
