I am converting a corner of a garage into a utility room. The owner intends fitting laminate flooring after I have installed the worktop and units. Rather than sit the units on the concrete floor and have the guy cut the flooring to fit round them I intend leaving a gap so he can fit his flooring underneath. The thing is; how much of a gap should I leave? Does laminate flooring and underlay come in standard thicknesses? Should I suggest adjustable feet on the units?

really depends on what the bloke actually does, adjustable feet seem to be a good idea though

depends on the units themselves....do they come with adjustable feet.

The units don't have adjustable feet.
I've seen laminate flooring advertised at 7mm and 8mm thicknesses and underlay at 3mm thick but the guy seems to think the underlay is about 10mm thick.

Thanks for the responses guys.

regular laminate is around 8mm and the underlay can be various thicknesses depending on what he ends up getting.

Well, after all that; the base unit was over 200mm lower than the height of the worktop so I fixed it to allow for a 150mm plinth. Problem solved ... I think

Thanks again guys.
