    Old floorboards

I am needing some extra floorboards for my bathroom which has some damaged that need replacing. It's a standard Victorian terrace house. Nothing fancy but the same age if possible. It's tongue and groove just under 6" wide. Would you know the best place to get this from as cheap as possible. I...

TV coaxial adapter for DVD scart

I have a portable tv that has no scart input, just a coaxial Ariel input and RBG input whatever that is. My question is there an adapter that can bring the signal from the DVD via scart for coaxial input in the tv ? Thanks.

Having to keep bleeding air from combi system

You can turn the valve head as a plumber has done them in the past but I can't budge them as I don't have a wrench, only adjustable gripping pliers.

Having to keep bleeding air from combi system

To make matters worse I cannot bleed the rads with air because the bleed screw has rounded making it impossible for turning with the key.

Having to keep bleeding air from combi system

Why oh why did I bother having TRV's fitted. Ever since it has caused problems. Bedroom rad set to number 3 but not coming on despite being cold in there. When I turned it up to 4 or 5 it started bubbling and letting water in but only warm in patches all over the rad. It doesn't make sense...

    Flaking slate roof

That's great but ideally I would like to be able to see if any tiles in the future are cracked as well as repair with gutter sealant. I was looking more at stopping the flaking with some kind of spray.

    Flaking slate roof

As I can't afford the price of a total re-roof at the moment I was wondering if there is a treatment spray to treat the tiles from the loft to at least stop them flaking causing dust and muck falling over everything in the loft. Would spray mount or similar do it ?

Old damp proof holes in bricks

Te tv prog did stand a brick in water for a long time and it didnt absorb any water. fact ! Well the house was built in 1883. The outside wall adjacent to our side entrance has concrete flags meting the brickwork as well as being slightly higher though I would think this isn't a problem as...

Old damp proof holes in bricks

I remeber a prog on TV some time ago proving there is no such thing as rising damp. Impossible for water to travel up bricks. It's probably coming from outside.

Old damp proof holes in bricks

I have noticed many holes on the lower external bricks to our house as the old damp proofing plastic caps have gone. This as treated previous to us moving in so I have no idea what happened. Suffice to say the lower internal wall around the fire hearth is crumbling through the wall paper...

There was inhibitor before he drained the system but he didn't put any back in. How do I get it in myself ? Still having to bleed the bathroom rad. Bedroom rad cold at the top (can't bleed as bleed screw rounded off) and other bedroom rad cold at bottom.

Having to keep bleeding air from combi system

Funny enough we have had the boiler for just over 2 years and never had this problem. Just of late it has made some funny noises when running hot water to the bathroom. Will check what you advised though.

Having to keep bleeding air from combi system

Since we had a combi boiler fitted we have had no problem with having to bleed the air out. A few weeks ago we had TRV fitted to all rads bu the bathroom which is on the end of the line. Now every few days I have to bleed air out like I used to with the old gravity system. I thought a sealed...

    Victorian slate roof repair

I live in a typical victorian red brick semi terraced house around 130 years old. When I go into the loft there seems to be fallen mortar and crumbled slate but no damage to the tiles. I know they are old and need replacing but it's out of the question at the moment as I can't afford it. One...

    Gainsborough 2000 shower

Our Gainsborough 2000 shower hardly works now and just trickles out cold water. In fact, you have to have it set to "Low" to get any heat out of it. I have no idea how to fix this but if anyone can tell me what it sounds like, what part I need and if easy to replace I would be grateful...
