    Recomendations for plumbing parts?

Cheers for the replies  Priced up 3m lengths of copper from B&Q at £13.50ish each. Same tube at £5.70 at plumb centre, but going on some comments here I'll check if that is per m (it certainly doesn't say per m in the book) Thanks Huw

Earth bonding a mix of plastic and copper.

This is an electrical question, so please bear with me..... :) I am currently re-plumbing my ground floor. Incomming mains will be MDPE to copper to plastic stop cock to copper to boiler. Then copper from boiler going to plastic underfloor and finally copper up through the floor to each rad...

    Recomendations for plumbing parts?

I'm just trying to get a feel for where the best places to shop for plumbing parts are:- flexi pipe, copper pipe, fittings, adapters, rads, de-scalers, etc? I'm doing a full re-plumb on the ground floor for my house so will need quite a few parts I don't really want to visit all the local...

    Garage confusion

I currently have 2 off garages that are attached to each other, but about 6m from the back of my house. They are currently 5m by 5m, and one wall runs along my boundary. I want to knock them down and build a single garage that is the same width, but increase the length by 1m at the back and...

    Mounting a boiler?? Stud wall??

I need to get my Worcester 24i junior moved - are there any issues with mounting a boiler on a stud wall? I will not be doing this myself, but I need to plan where everything is going. I will ask my plumber later as well, but just wanted to be informed? My plan is to mount to a stud wall...

    Slight glitch!

Why not Nige? Little bit of an argumentative statement isn't it? You have no idea where my manholes are and what the access to the drain is like. I'd also like to reiterate that the drain could not be diverted and building control agreed. Doesn't concern me in the slightest really....

    Slight glitch!

I understand what you are saying, but to be honest, i'm not really sure why i needed to apply for planning ermission in the first place as even the original extension with this little bit added doesn't even breach the listed rules. We'll see what they say. Can't really see them having an...

    Bi-Fold Doors - good companies

I have had this dilemma.... I am going for UPVC now. The ally ones are strong, but they look poor with all the seal strips and i can not find any that i can get in less than 6 weeks. They will also be colder as the ally is a much better thermal conductor and significantly more expensive...

    Slight glitch!

Well, in my logical mind the current extension is already approved, so in the eyes of planning - is closed. The 'new' extension is only 3m wide by 0.7m long and meets all these conditions:- Under new regulations that came into effect on 1 October 2008 an extension or addition to your house is...

    Slight glitch!

Thanks for comments. diyisfun - that is exactly the situation with the drain, but the extension has to move out by 700mm. Looks like this will fall under permitted development as it complies with all the rules. Will call planning later to confirm though.....

    Slight glitch!

Building works has started on my extension after getting planning, and pre approved building regs drawings. I have a private drain that runs along the back of my property that was always going to be close to the footings. We discovered today that the drain is too close! Gutted. It means we...

kitchen extractor - do i need one??

A mate of mine has just finished a full refurb on a flat he bought for rental. The only thing building regs checked when they came around was that the bathroom and kitchen had extractor fans - didn't even check they worked, just that they were there. May be different for rentals, but woody is...

    membrane on top of floorboards

I'm glad you said that as I would have used polythene! I have cleared my lower void, but there is a bit of moisture in certain patches. This is obviously below the dpc, but I am a little concerned. As it is only a thin weak mix of cement & sand on top of earth, is it reasonable to...

    The house that Huw built....

Builders started today and made some good progress. More of the same tomorrow to clear site & expose the drains. Then get cracking on extending the upper gable wall to sit above the rear wall of the house. No i wasn't allowed to play on the little digger! (Probably not a...

    Underfloor heating??

OK Been making a few phone calls and doing some research and i am 'definatly' not going down this route now. Been advised by a few people who could have sold me kits & know my property that it is not worth it. Many thanks for your advice Pete. Cheers Huw

    Underfloor heating??

I know electric is probably a little more expensive to run, but i am only planning on under tile heating - not primary heating. The main reason for the choice was not to increase the floor height - however, i might have found a way around that. I also don't really have anywhere for a manifold...

    Underfloor heating??

Hi Pete I'm back on this again. The boss has decided she wants tiles in the kitchen, downstair loo/shower, hall and lobby area. The other areas downstairs will have wood flooring and rads on the walls. The kitchen, loo and hall have no place for rads. The lobby will have oned though. As...
