Burley gas fire and vent size

Best place to find vent positions apart from MI is British Standards although the change won't be in there yet. At our assessment centre we have just "aquired" a Burley flueless fire brand new and it actually came with the right vent.

EXISTING GAS ENGINEERS! ACS Preparation Help!

You only get two goes at multi-choice the third attempt is an oral question based on the subject matter of the question. So this is not always the same question as the one you got wrong. Now if its a True or False question always go true first time then if you are wrong you know it was false

EXISTING GAS ENGINEERS! ACS Preparation Help!

All excellent advise. At our centre we do use the Corgi book in training it is also classed as a normative document which the viper book is not. The viper book also is simplistic and has the odd mistake saying that it is OK. My advise to all candidates is don't panic, don't waste time on any...

Burley gas fire and vent size

I agree the customer was the unlucky one, and yes he was working illegally which is one of the main reasons it was a custodial sentence (Yes I know the real reason was a dead body). What I do find strange if I remember correctly the manufacturers got away scott free even though the valve had...

Burley gas fire and vent size

Also the fire was overgassed it had come out of the factory set wrong but the RGI confessed to not checking it "assuming it would be set correct". At the time the M/I did not specify a vent location either.I am mates with the certification manager who had to visit the guy in prison and tell him...

    Potterton Lynx 1 Help!

It may be quite suprising but when I was a Technician with BG in Leicester we did not get to meet the guys at other depots very often. Melton whilst only being 15 miles away might as well have been another country. Even the lads at Belgrave depot (less than 2 miles from Ayl Rd) were a different...

    so come on be honest

Was common practice for Transco Engineers to do it at one time (so I am told ) before they introduced the bung kit for changing maintaps.

    Potterton Lynx 1 Help!

As part of my Technician training with BG went to potterton and spent best part of two days working on these. Good experience but a long time ago. Think I have probably got the notes still knocking around somewhere. Must say all that time on one boiler did give you the knowledge to work on them.

    so come on be honest

I agree with the CORGI bit although as a centre we are trying to work with our local inspector. I agree continual training would be a good way forward, but nobody likes training. All I can say is people do not come to our centre and tick a few boxes to pass, we also refuse to assess some we do...

    so come on be honest

How else do you feel people can prove competence without sitting assessments. Are you still registered. I am a hardworking tradesperson as well. And no wouldn't want to see you banned. We also stress to candidates holding an ACS qual doesn't mean you know everything and does not guarantee...

    so come on be honest

How with out knowing somebody you can make a sweeping coment like that amazes me and shows your narrowminded ignorance. I take it you are not registered with CORGI. I can honestly say anybody I have reccomended passes an assessment has proved their competence on the day. I think the public...
