To anyone that can help....

The pilot light will not catch once the gas valve is released. This is a problem that has been happening for a couple of months and various things have been tried to correct the problem and have worked a little or not at all:
-Cleaning the boiler
-New thermocuple
-New gas valve
-Bypassing the heat overide stat

The last guy we had out is stumped and I'm looking for inspiration if anyone can help?

Someone has suggested an issue with the pilot itself...something to do with the bit that actually lights..?

i would change pilot burner and clean injector.

sometimes the pilot becomes blocked and they can either be removed, cleaned (not explaining how because you could damage it) or just simply remove and replace it.

Rob :)

thanks for all the feedback. It's good to hear that it might be something with the pilot. That's what I suggested to the 'plumber' and instead he tried the thermocuple, valve and heat stat and he called a couple of hours ago to say it might be the pump!!

Feel a bit taken advantage of having already paid out for the above parts.

pump fault would not stop the pilot lighting.
get a decent engineer!
