Quick question about cable (flex) sizes please

I searched this site and found this I assume you must never use too small a cable but my question is does it matter if you ever use too big a cable? For example can you use 2.5mm T&E on a lighting circuit assuming all fused properly? Thanks

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

I have a reply from Micromark Technical :D "Thank you for your recent e-mail, you can connect the light your way if you wish, the reason that we say to use a fused spur is so you can isolate the lights should you ever need to carry out any work on them and of course you cannot put a fused...

Hi Guys! Found a 2a round pin plug top with fuse by MK but only one online UK supplier via Malaysia. Is it not normal in the UK? http://www.mkelectric.co.uk/products/item.asp?itemid=3224&rangeid=1037

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

I have emailed Micromark technical to ask them for their reasoning. If 5amps is too much then I will tackle wiring a spur between the 2a socket and the light fittings as you say.

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

I would connect the flex to the terminal block on the light, then out through the grommet at the back. Then I would pin the flex to the wall and connect the other end directly to the 3 pin round 2 amp plug. I don't need to chase any wires behind walls because most of it will be behind a...

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

The little 2 amp plug tops have no fuses - and I use them with normal lamps. I have no idea why the new Micromark lamps say do not fit to lighting socket - I thought you had the answer because the lighting is probably 6amp and they want maybe 3amp - although they don't say that either...

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

Oh. I would still like to use the 2 amp plug top to activate the lights from the wall switch. Is there an in-line spur that can go between them? Or can I wire the 2 lights into a 3 amp fused spur then straight back out of the spur to a 2 amp plug top? Also, I'd like to...

Can I use Mains Halogen spotlight with 2-Amp 3Pin Round Plug

Thanks Gavin The consumer unit is an old type with chunky fuses behind a plastic plate. I cannot tell which one is for the lights - so I will have to try them separately. I assume I pull them out (I've never done that before - my last place had up and down switches on each circuit which...

I have 2 micromark gu10 main voltage halogen (35w) double spotlights to use indoors (even though they can go outdoors) Can I attach a 3 wire cable to them and then to a 2-Amp 3-Pin Round Plug so that I can operate them from the light switch? I currently use 2 lamps via that little 3 pin...

Repair of pointing joints between coping stones

Along a long run of coping stones the pointing/joints are shrinking away and a little bit crumbly. I intend to have the coping stones replaced next year but meanwhile there is a slight leak into the room below this terrace wall. How can I make an effective temporary repair to these joints...
