Did I buy a crap PIR from Wilkinsons?

I would check the bulb first, they have a habit of blowing. A good indication that the PIR is still working is they make a small clicking sound when activated so if you can here it click when you walk in-front of it, changes are it's the bulb. Remember to isolate the supply to the light and...

    Timer for Xmas lights

Just get one timer and a 1 socket extension lead, plug the single extension in the outdoor socket then plug the timer in that, then the 4 socket one into the timer. Make sure you put the timer in the box as well, if its a weather-box it should fit fine :)

Extra RCD's when there is one behind the Consumer Unit?

Hi thanks for the replies. The way it works is: Meter -> 60A Singe Fuse Box -> RCD -> Fuse Box (not mcb consumer unit) We had a light once with developed a short (live touched earth) and it was plugged into a plug in RCD but the one at the fusebox tripped first, does that mean it's more...

Sockets in Airing Cupboard ?? Loftbox

Hey thanks for the reply, I have already bought the loftbox and it definitely has a separate 12v transformer. What if I was to cut the plug off the transformer and connect it to a switched fused unit on a spur in the cupboard? Is that safer than having it in the loft? Its unlikely the...
