    Flexible tail connection

Just bought a mono basin mixer that comes with 2 x flexible tails. I've screwed the tails into the mixer (M10 threaded) but the supply end is a 15mm screw fitting with a rubber washer inside. Is it ok to remove the nut and olive from a 15mm compression isolating valve and screw it directly to...

    Pedestal clearance

Thanks for the reply. Yeah i have seen those dimensions. The 230mm measurement line to the center of the plughole doesn't appear to start exactly from the rear of the basin so was wondering if that slight difference would give me a bit more extra clearance.

    Pedestal clearance

Bit of a longshot. Looking to purchase a View Total Install 590mm Basin ( with full pedestal). Was wondering if anyone here has one of these installed that could give me an idea of the wall to pedestal clearance at the base. I need a minimum clearance of 150mm because the wc waste will...

CU backboard fixing - halogen PIR

I have 2 questions: 1. I am installing a 2 way CU in my garage and will be fixing it to a plywood backboard. My garage is the prefab panel type and i was wondering if it acceptable to secure the backboard to a concrete panel using gripfill. My garage adjoins next doors garage so i'd rather...

Max rating using low energy bulbs

I have a couple of table lamps that have a max rating of 60w (standard bulb). If i replace the standard bulbs with low energy ones can i only go up to an 11w (equivalent to 60w) or can i also use a 20w (equivalent to 100w). Are light fittings rated on the max direct wattage power used or...

    Basin into bath waste?

In our bathroom we have a 40mm bath waste pipe at skirting height and a 32mm basin waste pipe approx 2' above this. The bath waste is approx 3m in length and the basin waste approx 2m. Both go into a vented stack. My question is, can i remove the separate basin waste and tap it directly...

    Which finish for skimming?

Fortunately the area is only 6' x 6'. Its one of those jobs i want to have a go at myself. Worse case scenario, if i balls it up, i'll cut my losses and re-board.

    Which finish for skimming?

Thanks. So for an amateur its probably best to go for multi?

    Which finish for skimming?

What type of thistle would you recommend for skimming over an artexed bathroom ceiling. Board or Multi finish? The artex is not a deep heavy pattern, its the light "pimple" effect (circa 1970's)

    Glowworm 30ci pressure loss

Hi oxi, There was no problem with the expansion vessel or pipework. As a last resort they fitted yet another prv, re-inflated the expansion vessel and this finally cured the problem. It would appear that the first replacement prv they fitted may have come from a faulty batch. Have...

    Remove radiator and cap off?

Actually might be easier than i thought. The rad i'm removing in the conservatory is connected to the system via the pipes from a rad in the kitchen. There is an inline isolation valve (similar to this) on each pipe in the kitchen and from there they have been extended into the conservatory...

    Remove radiator and cap off?

Got a rad in the conservatory that i want to permanently remove. When i have removed the rad i will be cutting back the pipes. Can i then just cap off the 2 pipes or do i have to loop them into each other. The rad is at the end of the run and on each pipe there is a drain nozzle.

    Plastering over wood

Hindsight is a wonderful thing. Is there anyway i can seal the wood so that plaster has more of a chance to stick?

    Plastering over wood

Can anyone recommend a plaster that will adhere to wood. I've removed the glass panels and architrave that were above our doors and replaced them with plasterboard, but this still leaves the front edge of 3x2 studs that run from the top of the door liner to the the ceiling exposed. Could...

tapered edge plasterboard fixing and painting

Another related question. The ceiling area i am reboarding is L- 5' 6" W- 4' 3" (using 2 x 1800x900mm). The joists span the 4' 3" width @ 400mm centres. Should the tapered joint run across the joists, or should the joint run parallel (i.e down the centre of a joist.) Or does it not really...
