    Solar Energy photo voltaic panels

Of course that is currently the case. The whole point of the feed in tariff scheme is to encourage people to invest their money in renewable energy to 'pump prime' the market. In 2 years the FIT rate has more than halved but the returns are fairly similar to the levels they were at the start due...

    Solar Energy photo voltaic panels

If you spent £100,000 on solar panels then you would be buying a hell of a lot of them. For a more realistic domestic figure we recently installed 3.5kWp of panels (14 panels) for £8 350. The customer should get income or electricity savings of over £32k over 25 years with the income being...

    Solar Energy photo voltaic panels

I work as a solar panel installer. Most solar panels will have performance guarantees as to how well they will perform over time. My recommendation would be to pick a well known manufacturer who is likely to still be around to back their guarantee in 25 years. Having said that the vast...

    Nightmare Bath Plumbing

That sounds about the same as ours as the floor in our bathroom conveniently slopes away from the plughole

Proffesional tiller (pic) you wont believe it

    Nightmare Bath Plumbing

We had this problem when fitting our new bath recently as the floor in the bathroom of our 100+ year old house is far from level. We just cut a long wedge shaped bit of wood, painted it white and wedged the bath panel in place with it, it looks fine :)

    Loose olive

Could you not have just reused the existing olive and so not have to go to the trouble of removing it in the first place? I would have thought the new fitting would just have to be tightened to the same extent as the old one was to compress the olive enough to make it water tight

    New Immersion Heater leaking

Thanks for the advice I unscrewed the immersion heater and rescrewed it in without the PTFE tape and managed to get it about a quarter turn further round and this seems to have stopped the leak and we now have some hot water :)

    New Immersion Heater leaking

Hi Our boiler (HW and CH) stopped working yesterday so we tried to switch on the immersion heater in our hot water tank so that we at least have hot water until the RGI comes out on Friday but unfortunately it didn't work. As the neon light on the immersion heater switch comes on when it is...

Wiring for a PIR outside light

I'm no electrician but I would say you can't use a supply to a Spa bath to connect in a light. I would break into the lighting circuits in the loft as you originally planned

Lintel will not let me drill into it

What type of drill are you usings and what drill bit? You need to use a hammer drill with a masonary drill bit to drill inot the concrete or brick
