Help removing wired smoke alarms please.

Sorry if i have missed something, but has a faulty detector been considered? If they were installed and working correctly, then unless something has been altered with the wiring would assume the detector has gone bonkers if it keeps alarming. I am sure Kidde and Aico advise chucking them every...

How Do You Price Your Work?

I have found that prices can vary - even in the same area. I think it boils down to the rules of the self employment game: choose the customers that pay the most and on time.

    di-log earth leakage clamp

Indeed, that is one way of clarifying that there is nothing interfering with the results. I also have an extension lead with the insulation removed on section which can help clamps function as a PAT tester which has been useful on occasions.

    di-log earth leakage clamp

Another great point, thanks Bernard. As you say parallel paths introduce extra factors whilst troubleshooting earth leakage so something else to bear in mind.

    di-log earth leakage clamp

Hi. Sure, that is a very valid point, but my method of attack for leakage is the entire installation first (either the tails combined, or main earth on its own), followed by individualy circuits if necessary. Thanks Bernard, valid point. I am an electrician who does not fall in to that...

    di-log earth leakage clamp

thanks for posting EFLI. Thats good to hear and as you say, cheaper again! I have heard some people say they can get bum readings from nearby cables (such as the vast amount inside a CU) - is this something you have noticed?

    di-log earth leakage clamp

hi bernard, thanks for posting. yes, i have found them useful for clamping the tails/earth tail on TT/TNS or for checking current draw using the single core from the mcb. Just wondered if anyone had one as they are about £70 cheaper than the Kewtech equivalent and also has a 2 year warranty. cheers

    13 A 1-Gang to 2-Gang Moulded Converter Switched Socket

hi steve, i am a big fan of internet forums as they are great for sharing knowledge, although competence is not something that can be easily assessed on them. You said in your first post you are confident in doing this job, so if i tell you what a professional would do, perhaps that may help you...

    Registered electrician advice please

I whole heartily agree with that statement. I would be interested to hear what NIC would be prepared to do about this (if anything). I think the owner of the business has left himself wide open to grief with this which could have been avoided IMO. Lets assume Evostance pays the £150 and receives...

Electrics in kitchen cut out if I use more than 3 appliances

hi. if the rcd trips whilst using the vacuum, can you not use it for a while (borrow another if needed) and see if you dont get any more issues? Is it under warranty with the manufacturer?
