Thermostat fr underfloor heating with high thermal inertia

Fascinating discussion, thanks guys ! TY for the "spirited" disucssion re stupidity. I have to say I'm never adverse to having pitfalls pointed out, just in case. Though, I had thought about this one. In fact, when we originally made the floor, we sank some (empty) copper pipes in, as...

Thermostat fr underfloor heating with high thermal inertia

i must say i hadnt thought about the weather changing outside: but of course, you are absolutley right: it can be a moving target. mmm ! In my case i think that is less of an issue though, as my house is exceptionally well insulated, so it is pretty difficultto tell the weather outside for...

Thermostat fr underfloor heating with high thermal inertia

yep: i agree measuring the screed temp and air is important, as I don't want the surface getting too hot: but it doesn't overcome the inertial problem, which is a time domain problem, rather than a measurement one, ie I have a control issue...

Thermostat fr underfloor heating with high thermal inertia

Hi! I am trying to find a thermostat for my underfloor heating (which is all electic--- wires set in a screed), which I put in the house years ago in a refurb. Lots of insulation under it, and I like it, but never found a thermostat that appears suitable. The screed means it takes some hours to...

HW Immersion element are flexibles available frawkward space

I'm wanting to fit an immersion element to an existing domestic copper HW cylinder, which some idiot plumbed in 15 years ago, not thinking that the immersion boss might get used in the future. They plumbed it so it is awkward to get to, and in fact a combination of the cupboard and pipes will...

Wetroom floor membrane: can you get wide seemless sheets ?

A wet room i'm doing in a first floor room of a victorian house in Kent in the UK. The floor is going to be 22mm ply on wooden joists --stengethened so as per the TRADA table to control movement. We'll probably use Marmox wall boards , to be tiled. The shower will be in a corner with a single...

Wetroom floor membrane: can you get wide seemless sheets e.g. 4m x 4m ? A wet room i'm doing in a first floor room of a victorian house in Kent in the UK. The floor is going to be 22mm screwed and glued ply on wooden joists --stengethened so as per the TRADA table to control movement. We'll...

design derating for cables going through kingspan/celotex

So... have 90mm or so of box present, being made of 2 separate ones "stacked" ? I see the logic: equally i could just cut straight throught the insulation so there is no insulation right the way through the slab, fo the full width and height of the patress box..... but then.... I start...

design derating for cables going through kingspan/celotex

Well: It seems to me the pragmatic solution here, is to "over bore" the hole you drag the cable through; --- since this is slab insulation, it won't slump after the event. As a rule of thumb probably the same cross sectional area againleft as "free air", as the cable, and ensuring separate...

design derating for cables going through kingspan/celotex

Hi! I have a problem with derating factors for cables going through phenolic thermal iinsulation: I have been wrestling with my 17th edition: I am rewiring a house with 17century solid brick walls (no cavity). We are refurbing it, (electively), and want to hit refurb U values for heat...

Gloworm space saver 40F manual circa 1987 anyone got one?

I have a Glowoworm Sapce Saver 40F : and the gas valve has the date 1987 on it. Iwas trying to get hold of a manual for my service guys: as when things get sticky having a technical manual around can often help e.g. with wiring diagrams. As it turns out since I originally posted this...
