It looks like that the fan is blowing the pilot away from the main burner. If I tap the side of the boiler the flame wafts over enough to ignite the burner, but otherwise it just continues to spark with the pilot like a candle in the wind. Can the fan be adjusted to stop this happeneing...

Thanks for the advice. She keeps the window open a little and there is also an air vent in the room. No other gas appliances except hob in kitchen

The boiler is a Vaillant combi installed in a bedroom cupboard and has an vertical flu. Alarm went off when boiler wasn't on, so is it possible to fumes to escape when boiler is off? Cheers

I bought one of these for my daughter, and it's gone off twice now, both times 30/40 minutes after the boiler had gone off. I have had the boiler checked by a gas engineer who said there was no problem with it. Sounds like a faulty alarm, but if the boiler is off there shouldn't be any escape...

Not sure how long this has been going on, because I only noticed when the pump got a bit noisy, but pump is on day and night, including when boiler is not on. I can't switch it off at the plug when I go to bed, because heating/water comes on before I get up. I assume pump should be switched...
