Think jj's right there. Sounds like the second socket is wrongly spurred from the cooker! You should really take this out. An integrated socket from a cooker switch is supplied from the cooker circuit.

So if it only has 2 x cables in then it's ok to chuck another one in as a "spur"? What if it's already a spur with a spur off it?? Surely the ring integrity needs to be established properly first. This can't be done by just simply having a quick look inside.
Can't get it off. Boxed the f*****g thing in with a worktop about 1" above it. I wish I'd read about these before they'd fitted it.

A continuity test from one end to the other to hopefully establish where they go (unless they're broken!). If it's really old then the insulation on the cables may be poor, so you'd be best to put a new one on.
