    Supply only uPVC recommendations

Looking for some recommendations for supply only windows suppliers. Loads online but I don't like buying things like this blind. I'm in South Wales so would be good to find a local company but obviously that isn't that important compared to finding a good and trustworthy supplier. Many thanks.

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

Just some quick feed back. I touched up a some area and although the pin holes still showed through it seemed to at least leave a light film over them. So I've gone the wall further coats and the pin holes are disappearing, although some still remain they are not so noticeable. Thanks for the...

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

Yeah the walls were white/magnolia. Definitely not misses. The ceiling and walls got skimmed about ten years ago at the same time so it's not PVA or similar. I agree with you and John though it's got to be something on the wall. I'll let it dry out and then try a couple different things and let...

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

No, no bubbling they just appeared quickly. It's not spray from a can of pop and the hole sizes are to uniform and over the entire wall, top to bottom.

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

Like you I think it's something left on the original paint surface but can see why it's just the one wall. I'll let it full dry and see how paint takes to it then. Thanks for the advise. Poe.

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

Sorry, yes. What you thinking it could have been? To be honest it looks like/similar to silicone inclusion which we used to get respraying cars and would mean removing the new paint and using a specialist cleaning solution to deep clean before repainting. This isn't a car and I hope that's not...

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

All walls prepped the same. Internal lounge wall. Not sure when it would have been last painted but under ten years I believe. Cheers.

    Pin holes in Matt emulsion.

Hi guys, Painted two walls with no issues on the their third wall this morning and not long after the first coat got pin holes all over it, see photos. I've painted hundreds of rooms and never encountered this. The original paint although not a matt is low sheen. Any ideas how I can sort this...

    Chimney breast removal advice.

Hi tell80, No, it's not a fancy pediment gable. Just a normal brick built cavity wall. I've got to get an SE out at some point to go over a couple things so I'll bring it to with them. Cheers.

    Chimney breast removal advice.

Thanks for the reply, I've only just seen it as I've been away. The house is normal cavity wall construction and about 75 years old. I'm sure a few of the other houses here have done it although that doesn't mean it's ok. Maybe I'll double check with a SE first. Cheers.

    Chimney breast removal advice.

Just a couple of quick questions. The chinmey breast had already been removed from the loft up. So looking to remove down to ground level. It's on the gable end. Does removing a chimney breast (constructed internally) cause any weakness in the end wall? And the other question is is it ok...

    Anyone recognise these blocks

I hope not bernardgreen, Don't think my diggers going to like sticking it's teeth into one of those! I can't even give them away to reclamation yards here so in the skip they go. Cheers, Po.

    Anyone recognise these blocks

Thanks guys, Nige f, that's kind of what I couldn't work out the fact that they aren't marked up by use like mortar or soot. Question now is why have I got a load of 80 year old plus unused fire linings in my garden! Cheers Po.

    Anyone recognise these blocks

I thought something like that but they're really not very heavy and none have any burn or soot marks. There is still more to come up yet. Poe

    Anyone recognise these blocks

Dug a load of these blocks up and wondered what they might have been used for. They say Rufford, Stourbridge on their face. Looked online and I think the company went out of business in the mid 1930s. I thought maybe Foundation (spreader?) Blocks. Poe.

What can I use quarry dust for. Over ordered!!!

Sorry I did mean to say the foundations I could use them for are for a raised patio (600mm) so nothing to substantial. So I should be fine getting some 20mm clean. Want sure if I should add some sharp sand but it's getting hard to get around here, it's all recycled stuff unless you pay over...

What can I use quarry dust for. Over ordered!!!

Ok so I've over ordered some quarry dust (massively!). I've got some foundations to do so thought I could use it in the concrete mix but what ratio it safe. I understand to much will weaken the mix. There's plenty of stone in it up to maybe 4mm. Thanks, Po.

What drainage for 2ft raised bed

Thanks SpaceWorm, Yeah I've got a movement joint in with slip ties. I can hide the weep holes in a gravel path or slightly above so wouldn't be very noticeable. Where this wall meets another wall, that wall has lower stepped foundations so might just run drainage pipe down to this. Cheers Poe.

Loft Conversion advice. Purlin strut removal.

Hi RonnyRaygun, Thanks for that, hopefully I will eventually find an engineer who will actually want the work here. If this is all to much for the spine wall it will have to be some form of beam running gable to party wall and purlin/dwarf support walls off these. I just need to know what is...

Loft Conversion advice. Purlin strut removal.

Still waiting to here back from the last two structural engineers that told me they would get back to me with an idea of costs and arrange sure visits!! I'm the mean time thought I would post a couple sketches of how I see the joists fitted to the spine wall and the old top purlin struts...
