How does our hot water work??

when you took the picture of the hot water 2 port valve ( white box with A and B on the side) i guess the tank was probably up to temperature as it is in the closed position. Depending on the power of your boiler as to whether it can heat both heating and hot water quickly at the same time...

Can I buy and fit an LPG tank myself?

you aren't allowed to own bulk gas tanks in the UK. They have to be inspected regularly and replaced every 20ish years and are the responsibility of the gas supplier. This is for both your safety and more importantly the safety of others around you.

WB Heatslave ii not powering up

are you certain that you have 230v to the boiler? have you checked the 5a fuse on the pcb of the boiler?

    Spot that noisy pump

undo the 4 allen keys and you will see the impellor. you can then remove the head from the valve body.

    More radiators = new boiler?

a 3 bed semi, 24kw boiler is unlikely to be too small unless you have at least a 5 bed detached

    Spot that noisy pump

sounds like some debris stuck in the impellor combined with a lack of water in system( or partially blocked cold feed)

Megaflo scale problems - advice required on descale.

the internal baffle plate is made of a white plastic. when you recharge the air bubble you should open a couple of hot taps and the tprv. It normally takes up to 10 mins to recharge (noise to stop). The pieces of plastic look very much like resin out of a failed water softener.

Ecoflam Minor 4 electric motor bearing replacement

for the cost of a new motor for these i would just replace the whole motor, changing bearing on a motor over 10 years old is not really worth it as the windings would have already been damaged with noisy bearings

Low Loss Header - plumbed wrong!?

i would say first that check that rads are balanced down to 11 degree differentials individually for both zones. If they are allready then it is possible that the boiler output is not enough to cope with both zones.

Megaflo scale problems - advice required on descale.

the scale is formed on both the immersion element and the main coil if the conditions are right. normally the immersion coil temp causes the formation to be smaller fine particles that fall off to the bottom of the cylinder where they can form together. If the main heating coil is much above 70c...

Megaflo scale problems - advice required on descale.

i have a few on private water supplies that scale up very quickly. Have drained down cylinders to find that the bottom 300mm is virtually all scale and that has happened within a year. on a mains connected system you would expect 6 to 10 years but wit the right conditions this can be much...

    Balancing UFH

Open the auto air vent on the upper underfloor manifold and then in one loop at a time remove the actuator head on each loop and run for 15mins. You should get least 4lt/min but even on a max 120m loop you should still get over 3lt/min with one just loop open. Hopefully it’s just a bit of air...

    Balancing UFH

Hopefully then getting the flow rates increased through some loops so the differential is closer to 7 may give you the extra you need. The blending valve can be altered lower. You have to undo the plastic head using the Allen key and move it around. But only bother if you need to. Increasing...

    Balancing UFH

Because the differential is above 7 at times it is not giving the maximum output. Open all flow valves to max and only reduce the ones if the flow rate is greater than 3. This will help the system self balance much quicker and put more flow into the loops that need it. No don’t increase floor...

    Balancing UFH

Just check the following, some you may have already done but might be worth revisiting. Flow and return valves fully open All flow valves fully open Pump set on max speed Blending temp set at You should see/get Flow return differentials of 7 degrees once the system Has been running for about...

What fresh hell is this? It’s not even a code?! Ideal Isar He30

Most likely a small leak on to the purple wire. Take off front panel, remove purple wires ( ribbon cable) from control panel on right hand side. Turn boiler back on. It will now run at max temp for heating and hot water. The control panel will be blank but the boiler operates via the heating...
