My rads keep making a knocking sound, I assume when the TRV's are shutting down. There's an automatic bypass valve fitted and the system is all fernoxed. Is there any way of getting rid of the noise?

The Pegler Automatic Bypass Valve has a dial going from 0 (fully off) to 5 (fully on). What does it mean to have it set to 0 and then set it to 5, when it's connected to the usual flow and return pipes of a Combi boiler.

I've just had my central heating system balanced - auto-bypass set and lock shields set - but some of the rads are now whistling. Is the problem that the auto-bypass hasn't been properly set or something else?

I want to get Freeview but they don't cover my area. The Freeview bloke said that it wasn't a problem because I can get it on cable or dish, anyone know who supplies it and which is better?

Does that mean I might be better off using a "Trade" paint instead of the normal retail stuff because its thinner? So instead of two coats of the normal stuff maybe say three coats of the Trade paint.

The walls and ceilings have been freshly plastered with Thistle Multi-finish. Before painting them is it a good idea put on some PVA to seal the surface? If so, how long does the PVA have to be left on before painting and how much do you need to dilute it.

I've noticed a few (hairline) cracks in the cement render, should I fill these in now or is it best to leave it till next summer when I come to paint it and fill it in then? If the latter will I need to use some fungicide?
