    Outdoor socket outlets

My boss wants a socket fitting outside for us to plug some christmas lights into as on previous years, they've been plugged into one of the rooms through one of the windows which isn't acceptable. I don't have my handbook with me, but could anyone tell me the regulated dimensions for...

    Category X used cars....

What does that mean as a potential owner though? Will I have to do anything out of the ordinary while owning it? Special tests, documentation, insurance?

    Category X used cars....

Does anyone know what this means other than minimal damage or stolen-recovered which will not be recorded on HPI? What does that mean in terms of ownership? It's a very nice car and is within my price bracket so am interested, but I've never even heard of category X before, so want to know...

    Draughty Double Glazing

I guess I don't know for certain that it's the windows but they always seem to be incredibly cold. We get a lot of condensation on them too. One room in particular is the room we use as our nursery. There are no vents/airbricks in there yet when I have been sat with the little one in the...

    Draughty Double Glazing

We have double glazing throughout our house, however there are a few noticable draughts through the house and one of the windows has a broken lock which is obviously a security concern primarily before being a point where the efficiency of the window is compromised. Excepting the broken lock...

Uponor zone heating control actuators not working

Throughout our hotel we have little blue 24v Uponor Actuators on the manifolds. For some reason, some of them don't seem to close fully. I've been mucking about with a manifold over the last few days trying to work out what's going on as I had a couple of complaints from guests staying in a...

    Urine solidifying

Ok, being at the sharp end of job distribution in a drainage company for 6 years should cover this one. Avoid using sulphuric acid until you have exhausted all other options. Not only is it incredibly dangerous, more often than not it doesn't work unless you have taken measures to minimise...

    Cold shower

Thanks for your response, I can just about understand what you mean. Can anyone confirm this and if so, how do I go about de-scaling the hot water coil in my boiler? The boiler is a Vokera Linea though exactly which model I cannot find. To be fair, we are busy getting plans etc for a...

    Cold shower

Ok this is a question about my shower at home. Our boiler isn't the best and we haven't been happy with it for a while but we have the service plan from ****ish Gas and we ask them about the fact the boiler takes so long to heat up hot water and if you turn it to full flow, it seems to go...

    Staining rails for clothes dryer

The wooden rails on an old style winchable clothes drying rack have snapped and fallen apart so I am charged with renewing them. I have obtained the correct size lengths of timber to use, but I need to know what I should stain them with. The original timbers are a dark oakey colour on oak...

    Creating Wire Diagrams on computer

I'm sure I've got a copy of Visio somewhere, I just never knew what the software was for. I downloaded the freeware one from that link you provided to the older thread. Diagram Designer I think it was called. Really good. Dead straight forward and allows you to create your own frequent use...

    Heatproof Bulkheads

Cheers guys. I'll get in touch with my supplier and see if they can get those last ones or something similar. Just to check, are they suitable for use in deep freezer rooms too?

Euro Spec Key randomly stopped working

The locks we have on our guest rooms are Euro*Spec barrels and for some bizarre reason one of our locks has stopped working with the master keys we have. We have 4 master keys between housekeeping, myself, reception and the GM and they have all suddenly stopped un/locking this room. The...

    Creating Wire Diagrams on computer

What software do you guys use/find the easiest to draw up wiring diagrams? I'm trying to put my file together for college and could do with tidying up my diagrams. I'd prefer to be able to knock them up on a PC than have to start from scratch every time I cock up.

    Heatproof Bulkheads

Hi all, The bulkheads above the cooker rangers in our kitchen in the hotel are in desperate need of replacing and the bulbs are lasting less than a fortnight due to the heat getting into them. Can anyone recommend a suitable bulkhead to replace them with which will withstand the heat above...

Anyone know anything about radio controlled clocks?

I hear what your saying but I don't understand why it's gone like this. It worked fine for over a year, then just suddenly went wrong.

    Hotpoint Aquarius FDL570 Dishwasher

Brilliant advice, thank you. But how do I remove the door fascia? The only screws in the door appear to be holding the metal plate down on the inside of the door. I can't see any retaining clips or anything holding the fascia in place. Any ideas?

Anyone know anything about radio controlled clocks?

How on earth do you change that? There's only three buttons on the back to offer any adjustment being: M.Set Reset Rec It was bought in the UK so should be set to the UK.
