    What have you bought today?

Just bought a set of extension ladders to reach the gutters & general maintenance, £190 Lyte from Screwfix, better than the B&Q offerings IMOP but time will tell. I used to have a nice pair but that was in another life, long gone.

CCTV 4K WIFI Camera recommendations please

That's a very good idea, a kind of backup if the camera detection proves to be a problem. One up for IP vs analogue :) Thanks for the FOV calculator, been playing with that one & it gives some pretty startling results but that's only because I am a CCTV newbie. I gave up on PIR's as I couldn't...

    Transformer

Two other things to check are : 1/ The DC connector polarity (marked on the underside of the adapter but unreadable here) 2/ Size of DC connector, they often have different barrel & pin diameters

CCTV 4K WIFI Camera recommendations please

Not for me, keeps coming up with "Time limit reached" and asking for login after a minute or so. Maybe you were once registered & there is still a cookie on your system enabling access ?

CCTV 4K WIFI Camera recommendations please

I was thinking of the unheard of brands found on the likes of Ebay, I realize that unfortunately a lot of products are now made in China. Yes I was hoping to find something with either a PIR or some sort of object recognition rather than just plain anything moving. Thank you, I had thought...

CCTV 4K WIFI Camera recommendations please

I had thought of POE/Ethernet but it's more parasitic power consumption that I really want to avoid, plus if there were several camera's then the router cupboard would be full of plugs that are the other end (assuming they are point to point). The other alternative seems to either buy some...

CCTV 4K WIFI Camera recommendations please

Hi all. I am looking for a 4k external camera with >90deg fov with an SD card slot, wifi interface, night vision and smart movement detection. The object is to reduce cabling to a simple locally provided 12V only and not have any centralized NVR. I have found such cameras for 1080p but not much...

CCTV Hikvision DVR-204Q-K1 resolution & frame rate spec ?

Exactly the problem hence the large dog (although even that has it's legal issues for the owner irrespective of what the so called victim was doing). Unfortunately we live in an era where the police do not protect the law abiding public (to busy being woke) yet prosecute any attempt at self defense.

Just another conspiracy theorist, get them everyday on BBC R4 :)

CCTV Hikvision DVR-204Q-K1 resolution & frame rate spec ?

That's a very good idea :) We have an outside light/pir that is often triggered by an old tom who includes us in his patrol patch but it would be fairly easy to set something sufficiently high to exclude him. Before anyone asks we know he is a tom by the way he marks his patch :)

CCTV Hikvision DVR-204Q-K1 resolution & frame rate spec ?

I don't think I would bother with 1080p lite. Now I am slowly understanding DVR specs I agree that particular one is pretty poor although at least it manages a specification unlike most "consumer grade" devices I have looked at. I am still very much learning and it does seem anything worthwhile...

CCTV Hikvision DVR-204Q-K1 resolution & frame rate spec ?

Because its a resolution that most people are familiar with. Are you able to contribute or do you just enjoy sniping ?

CCTV Hikvision DVR-204Q-K1 resolution & frame rate spec ?

Well for those of us without massive 4K+ televisions in our living rooms :)1080p is actually quite reasonable but dependent on lenses & ranges etc. I just chose it as a figure to compare dvr's not necessarily the final resolution. In the meantime the full spec for that dvr is here but nowhere...

CCTV Hikvision DVR-204Q-K1 resolution & frame rate spec ?

Hello, I am sure this is common to many DVR's but I do not understand the Hikvision spec for this unit. It is a 4 channel DVR and I am interested in using it at 1080p full. Part of the spec (under frame rate) says Main stream: When 1080p Lite mode not enabled: For 4 MP stream access: 4 MP...

    Virgin Media Landline

That's what I was thinking along the lines of too, however it would seem from the OP's responses from VM they are trying to wriggle out of there responsibility! Rubbing there nose in there own webpage may do the trick Good place to look part way down is "What if my phone & hub are in different...

CCTV manufacturers with user manuals ?

Ahh that's helpful, well I found them selling on Ebay as new (but of course they don't tell you it's obsolete). Interesting though, will they withdraw the manuals from there site for what there selling now in a year or two, I wonder. Surely I wouldn't be the first person to loose a manual and...

OK got it. So you will have to move the base station back down till where you can get a service then extend it's connection to the router in the attic accordingly.

PV Inverters causing issues with other equipment?

IMOP extremely unlikely. Inverters have to pass strict harmonic emissions standards in order for them to be acceptable by the DNO for connection to the grid. Power side internal failures would cause complete failure rather than pollution. So unless you are talking a rogue installation then no. A...
