    Water pipes suddenly all sweating

Thank you will try this today. I asked about the 22cm inlet but he said it wasn't possible due to size of void? Also he has now filled everywhere with that foam!

    Water pipes suddenly all sweating

I'd wondered that but none of the pipes were sweating when the new main was coming through the wall into the original area. It seems like more pipes are doing it now going further up. So many feel wet all along. We'd have to insulate most of them. Even the wall foam is wet.

    Water pipes suddenly all sweating

The pipes are in our kitchen. The previous boiler was in a cupboard (which was ripped out to install new one) and some of those pipes are original and others new. The previous boiler (done before we had house) was a poor job and had used too many 15mm pipes everywhere and was all over the shop...

    Water pipes suddenly all sweating

We've had building work (loft conversion) and as part of that had a new system boiler fitted back in July. The builder said we needed to upgrade our water main to get enough pressure. He dug a trench out and connected a new water main but did a temporary pipe through our wall into the kitchen...

Draughts in new loft conversion - possible causes?

Only issue is these photos are not current and he has since put plasterboard over (which was messily taped) and skimmed that. Can draughts still come through this? The builder keeps going on and on about how warm it is but while I agree it isn't cold (yet) the draughts are annoying. It's taken 6...

Draughts in new loft conversion - possible causes?

I don't know how they have been closed but yes they left exciting joists and ran new ones alongside. The builder isn't great and I doubt I'd get an honest answer to your question. He didn't put the rockwool under the new floor that we requested which I assume would have helped reduce draughts...

Draughts in new loft conversion - possible causes?

Yes we could be as rest of house is quite warm. Just didn't realise the cold air dropping could feel so breezy! Hopefully rads going in tomorrow so once they are on and running hopefully the draughts may go. I like the Joss sticks idea too.

Draughts in new loft conversion - possible causes?

Our loft conversion is almost done. It's a full width rear dormer and 3 dormers to front with stairs in the middle one. It's now been insulated, plaster boarded and skimmed. There is no new insulation under floor but there is our original loft insulation there. The windows are double glazed with...

    Floor insulation and current regs

OK so the conclusion seems to be the builder is a tool but hasn't actually broken regs. Using our old insulation means sound is awful and not great for retaining heat in rooms below. Having spoken to a local flooring guy he thinks we can overcome this with a cork underlay 4mm as it's light and...

    Floor insulation and current regs

Yes the architect recommended this but builder said we don't need it. Looked at regs and he might be right because we have 12.5mm plasterboard ceilings skimmed on bedrooms below, not that he explained that.

    Floor insulation and current regs

Photos of an exposed area. Probably less insulation in other parts as that's our old stuff.

    Floor insulation and current regs

He hasn't followed plans fully and has made his own alterations usually without telling us until it's done. The stuff he's added a little of is still fire retardant but not sure about the risk with the original stuff as not sure what it was/how old etc

    Floor insulation and current regs

Standing in the loft I can hear conversations on the ground floor which is why I started to wonder about what should have been done. Trying to work out if we could leave Karndean as ensuite is above main bathroom so not to delay and get him to redo rest of it. Or even if it's just a sound issue...

    Floor insulation and current regs

We are having a loft conversion. Both the building control plans and our quote stated we wanted rockwool 100mm under the new floor. Instead our builder has just reused our old loft insulation (very old and patchy) and added a tiny amount of Knauf Loft 44 in places. Floor is now down and walls...

How to extend TV aerial booster

Thank you for all the replies. It's a box that boosts signal and connects our 2 downstairs aerial points to the main aerial. It sat happily on the floorboards next to the loft hatch until they buried it. As the builder has done nothing I'm not sure how much pull/movement there is so I don't want...
