Why would decorating the bathroom stop my shower from workin

That was so quick, thank you. Kev - think the pressure is too good for the inlet filters to be the fault esra_ptrap - the flow from the shower seems to be the same - however, it's been three months since i've had a shower and it's a different shower head so it's possible it's slightly...

Why would decorating the bathroom stop my shower from workin

In October I had a shower that had great pressure and had scalding hot water. (It's a Mira shower and is not a power shower. The boiler is a Sime 80C Combi). Then I had the shower cubicle taken out, the corner bath removed and the sink removed. I had the bath put where the shower cubicle was...

I've painted tiles and it's all gone wrong!

No way am I knocking them off! We removed tiles in the bathroom and found all sorts of scary stuff that cost us a fortune to put right. Am scared rigid by the idea of what we might find in a kitchen! Plus, as tiles go all the way behind units etc would mean taking all of kitchen down and it...

I've painted tiles and it's all gone wrong!

Hi. My delightful kitchen had lime green and fluorescent orange tiles, so I bought some Ronseal one coat paint (I had some sceptism about the one coat, I must admit!). I cleaned the tiles several times and was as sure as I could be that I had removed all grease. Followed the instructions and...

    Painting kitchen doors

Thanks - you are quite right I would botch it (see my post on painting tiles!). I went into Howdens (before I saw your post on the discount) and the cheapest matching doors would come to £675. So have decided to leave them for now but will do as you suggest and find a friendly chippy for a quote.

    Painting kitchen doors

Hi. Rather than spend a fortune on a new kitchen in order to sell my house I thought i'd do the makeover thing and paint the cupboard doors. However, I'm guessing this is something that will be much more difficult than I imagine. Anyone got any tips on how to make it look good? All help will...

Thanks all. Have got a chimney specialist coming out soon to deal with it. It rains a lot in Yorkshire and the noise is really really annoying!

    water dripping behind fire?

We are using the Living room fire place. The damp men put a bomb up the chimney and checked which pot was being used. They reflaunched too. It's a gas fire. Thanks for that comment about hearing the water hitting the cowl, it's raining today :( so I'll listen later.

    Cracks in Chimney Breast

Cracks are less than a penny width, it's a party wall with a poorly maintained property, had a cowl fitted recently and the flaunching redone and the people who did this didn't mention any other problems with the chimney or roof. No upstairs fireplace, it's a victorian terraced house and I...

    water dripping behind fire?

We had a big patch of damp on the chimney breast, which started half way up and was to one side. I called out a damp expert (there's something wrong with that term!) who advised we got a cowl fitted to the chimney. This was duly done but one the day it was fitted it rained heavily and I could...

    Cracks in Chimney Breast

Hello. I've noticed some irregular diagonal cracks in a first floor chimney breast. It looks almost as if it is cracking down and outward. They seem to be extending but as there has been a picture there for several years it is difficult to say for sure. The ground floor chimney breast seems...

Failed double glazing unit in dormer window

Hi. I have a victorian house that was owned by a DIY enthusiast with no idea of what he was doing. So far I've replaced the lethal boiler, gas fire, repaired the damage done by his plumbing and am getting the highly dangerous oven replaced also. There's a loft conversion that has all the...

Flexible or rigid gas connector for integral gas oven?

Hi. I called a corgi gas engineer out to look at my oven and tell me if it is safe (a long story, nothing else in my house is so I'm starting to become a little paranoid!). He says that an integral gas oven should have a rigid connector but my dad (corgi registered but not for appliances, only...

Ray - thanks, that's a big help. The joins will be at right angles, so I shall get a cover for them. Cheers

Thank you. Started with a brush, but was very hard to do, so changed to a roller!
