    Decking - What causes this?

I don't mind the spotting as it is, my concern is that the whole deck will go black with mould. Do you think it will get really bad over the winter? Or am I worrying about nothing?

    Decking - What causes this?

I've already been out with the pressure washer, that didn't shift it. If I wait until next year to clean it off, will that make my job harder? Will the bleach affect the oil that's on there? If I clean it now, I won't be able to get a coat of oil on because of the weather.

    Decking - What causes this?

Yes, it was pressure treated. Any way to get it off?

    Decking - What causes this?

I laid a new deck in the summer, and it's been treated with 2 coats of Liberon decking oil. 6 months on, and I have marks like this on the decking: What causes this? And is there any way to get it off?

    Greying deck advice

OK, so the rain did come a bit too soon it seems... I've now got a few lighter patches on the decking which are starting to show up as the decking is drying. Any advice? Do I just leave it and let it all weather and apply again next year?

    Greying deck advice

Oops, I meant earlier this year. I gave it another coat yesterday and now looks much better. Hopefully it dried enough before the rain came overnight!

    Greying deck advice

I built a deck earlier which was oiled with Liberon decking oil. I've noticed that parts of the deck have started to go grey, so... Do I oil it now to stop it greying further? or Do I just leave it and oil it next year?

    Liberon Decking Oil

I've just used Liberon decking oil on my new deck. It's very good once it's on but mine took a good 2 days to dry, and it was applied when the weather was warm.

    Rain on Postcrete

I have just put in some small posts set in postscrete, for some steps I am building. However, about 10 minutes after the posts were in and done the rain came, and came down very heavy. Will the postcrete have been affected? Will it set as strong as normal? I have now covered everything...

Too long between decking oil coats?

OK, so I've been outside oiling the decking this weekend (first time since built). I have only done one coat but I don't have time to get a second coat on today, the tin says (Liberon Clear) that I should apply the second coat before the first is dry. My question is, if I wait for the...

    Decking treatment questions

Thanks for the response. I have just been looking around the internet, and some people suggest that the decking should weather for a while first before oiling. Would anyone here advise that? Or is it best to oil asap?

    Decking treatment questions

I have just finished building a deck in my garden, I have a couple of questions regarding treatment. After reading advice on this forum, I am going to oil the deck. However, because there's a lot of pollen and blossom blowing around at the moment, as soon as I start oiling the deck it is...

Deck sloped for water run-off, what about the posts?

If I want to bolt through two joists (side and front) onto a straight post, will the angle not really make any difference? Obviously the joists will not sit flush with the posts, or will they?

Deck sloped for water run-off, what about the posts?

This is probably going to sound like a very silly question, but... If you want your deck to slope slightly to allow the water to run off, how do you get a sloped deck attached to straight posts? Thanks

    6x2 4.8m deck joists... Heavy?

I have some 6x2 4.8m deck joists being delivered tomorrow, however I will be the only one at home and need to get them moved into our back garden. Will I be able to move them on my own? Even if it's just by dragging? I did manage to drag some 2.4m sleepers a few months back, so will they...

    Deck over existing raised area

Do you mean bolt a piece across the front of the 2 joists? Will that be much better structurally? The only reason I have planned in this way, is to avoid having to cut all of the joists. And also, the joists really need to sit flush at the front so that the deck doesn't come out further than...

    Deck over existing raised area

Still in the process of planning, and just wanted to know whether the following is OK or a silly idea. I'll be using 2 joists joined at a post for the outer frame of the deck, could I do something like the following to join the joists (plan view): If post A is concreted into the...

    Coach Bolts or Coach Screws

That's great many thanks! How big does the hole need to be for M10 rods and bolts? The extension says its for 16mm flat bits and upwards?

    Deck over existing raised area

Across the 4.5m span? Will that offer better stability?

    Deck over existing raised area

I'm in the process of planning out the deck, and would like your thoughts on this frame... All posts are 4x4, and the joists are 6x2 (it's not to scale, its just a rough mock up with dimensions marked). Will it be good enough to support the deck?
