    volkera 80 combi valves

Sorry; you've answered your own statement - quite simply the valve is not the same then is it??? You should only be purchasing genuine spares as Agile stated; stay clear of all these cheap and cheerful "we bung it in a box and post it" Internet sites; show some savvy and take a trip to your...

    Slow flow on hot taps

You have an open system ;) You can get open hot water systems where there is a tank in the loft feeding the cylinder and you can get sealed or "unvented" hot water systems that are piped directly into the mains. You have an open system. If you have two seperate taps on a sink/bath...

    Radiator Heating (chilly 1st floor)

Yes, you can safely shut off the upper floor radiators; you'll find that the system probably just needs balancing. As for the banging; that depends on what the banging is caused by; sometimes it is just expansion of the pipework as it heats up and rubs on the likes of joists, etc... Which is...

How long ago was the meter changed?

    GAS LEAK HELP!!!!

Generally a gas meter change does not require any modification to the existing carcass; just a swap of the meter control valve and swap of meters; if you have steel gas pipe under a concrete screeded floor; then it is true that the pipes can just start leaking for no apparent cause; normally due...

Just a thought here... Some appliances have "flue deflector kits" available which allow the reduction of boundary lines and of course deflection of the condense plume and POCs.... What boiler has BG supplied you; that may be a faster option.

    water overflowing above boiler

Monnie; the motorized valve is automatic; that lever is a manual override for when it goes wrong as a temporary solution; so no need to touch it at the present time.

With the cooker: The manufacturer's instructions override pretty much everything; but unless the makers instructions specifically state "No stability device is required" then the competent person must deem such an item to legal guidelines and that of best-practice. Let me re-iterate; is...

Baxi 133 HE Plus Serious problem Please HELP !!!

Ok; my bad... I read the first statement wrong and thought it was now all off :( So; when you turn the heating on... The pump starts; then the fan kicks in and you get some flames... Then it switches off shortly after? When you turn on the tap; you get hot water fine; same temps as...

    water overflowing above boiler

I would suggest that the "blue box" is your motorised valve; should have a silver label on it with "MV-....." something or other on it.... Am I right?

Water overflowing when pump kicks in.

Pipes incorrectly configured and a blockage developing somewhere near the feed and vent - Try turning the pump speed down as a temp solution.

    combi boiler problem

As Agile said... Plus a response... You'd better get an engineer in. Sorry for the non-helpful nature; but there won't be much available here apart from guesses.

The cooker missing a stability bracket is "not to current standard" unless there are signs of it being unstable... If that is the only reason he/she has given you; then you'll probably find it just need stabilizing and chaining. As for the boiler... We're going to be seeing a lot of this...

    part diy install

@the plumbing miracle: I agree 100% that not "every" registered engineer does as they should; I too have walked into some very "strange" installations, but what would I prefer? Someone that has bothered to train and will have "some" certified practical skills; or someone that has read a book and...

    boiler wont ignite

By the above statement - You must include your boiler and system type. Is the pump running? Is the clock switched on? We need a lot more info than just what you can initially see... Go on... Open them eyes and take a look; or call in a professional (Which would be my best advice if you have a...

Baxi 133 HE Plus Serious problem Please HELP !!!

It sounds like a pump from what you describe in my opinion; almost like the impellor has come adrift... Although with the amount of work that has taken place on it; I would not like to really suggest anything without seeing it.

    ravenheat csi85t faling to light

If I hear it again where the manual or fault finding chart said that it was "x"... I think I'll cry :P Manuals are an aid; not a walk-through... Otherwise I'd be out of a job. If you are struggling to get an engineer; British Gas will work on RavenHeat's as an option for you... So...

    ravenheat csi85t faling to light

By the way; a gas leak detector is not really suitable for tracing gas escapes on a gas valve union; this should be done with LDF in my opinion; plus the gas valve will require setting up in most cases with these appliances.

    ravenheat csi85t faling to light

Agreed with Agile... If you can check an APS; then surely you would not have even got close to the gas valve; let alone replace it during the fault find... Additionally; there is never a conclusive answer in this technological world we live in; it's a bit of best guess gets it on some faults...
