Thanks , I'm looking to use atmospheric conditioning as don't have the space to wet and store flat to condition unless I can do that as they go down and leave to settle before pinning into place?

    Lino on hardboard with underlay

Thanks, sheet vinyl, I don't want click tiles again, they hid a leaking dishwasher which is why I need to do something as water got under and spread without it being obvious

    Lino on hardboard with underlay

Water damage to some click laminate kitchen tiles so I'm replacing with sheet vinyl ontop of Hb. The floor has an underlay which is was going to take off but I'm wondering if it's worth leaving and screwing the hb on top. Would that be worthwhile or a bad idea? Thanks

off the peg houses, why the difference?

Well spotted I hadn't noticed the difference in mortar I reckon you are right, I might poke my inspection camera under it I think there might be packing between the brick and steel, maybe wood

off the peg houses, why the difference?

the bricks above aren't touching it, I can put my hand in there between them. the only thing I can think and I can't tell from these photos is that maybe ours is taller than theirs, so the wall height could come into it. it's a U shaped tray , could they have put a lintel in upside down by...

off the peg houses, why the difference?

There are a number of houses the same as mine on and around the same street, a "type c". I noticed that my neighbours house doesn't have a piece of what I thought was wood, undernearth the arch of the porch. "great" I thought, "I can removed it and it's one less thing to paint". only thing...

    A tale of 2 quotes

1980s house, verges cracked and falling out, a few slips from the ridge (neighbours is same age and in worse condition). I've decided to get them raked out and re-pointed/bedded. Tried a few local tradesmen based on recommendation and out of the local town booklet. One no show One...

Bosch Washer Dryer door handle problem

I can't see the spring on the pic, from memory I think it's at the top of that metal post, the plastic wedge on the handle presses against the paddle on the right hand lower side of the post and rotates it. I've ordered some of Dishmans Milliput so will strengthen the plastic with that...

Bosch Washer Dryer door handle problem

Bought one of these a couple of years ago as they were supposed to be one of the few "good" makes, however the door handle recently broke. I have a replacement, but as you can see from the photo, it seems to have the same flaw as the original. The old handle is on top, you can see where I...

Legal requirement for a gas safety check?

My parents have switched from BG to eon, they have been to take the initial readings. Its their own home, not rented. Eon have written several times saying they have to come and do a gas safety check, my old man is convinced they are trying to push them onto a smart meter. They are now...

    Lay-z-spa pump heater element repair/replacement

Thanks, I'll have a look at taking it apart, it's just a spare whilst a newer one gets repaired under warranty (though I think the newer one will go the same way out if warranty) . It looks like a fairly bespoke unit as shown on this 'refurbished' example...

    Lay-z-spa pump heater element repair/replacement

does anyone have any tips on repairing or replacing the heating element from a lay-z-spa pump? I have an old one that trips the RCD when the heating element is powered, they seem impossible to get spares for. thanks

18 or 22mm chipboard in place of 19?

Yeah, I was shocked, only 607x1220, it is exterior grade though, unfortunately it's all the small b&q had and opportunities to get to another are few and far between! Thanks all

18 or 22mm chipboard in place of 19?

Thanks, at 30 quid for a small section I don't think I will be ripping it all out for ply, I do have a piece ready now though. What material would you advise as a packer? I was going to live with 1mm difference but obviously would prefer it to be level
