18 or 22mm chipboard in place of 19?

A soft spot has developed in a 19mm t&g chipboard floor, probably because of heating pipes underneath. I've placed a 3.6mm piece of plywood I happened to have on top temporarily until I get hold of replacement t&g. It seems that nobody does 19mm anymore, I can get either 18 or 22 mm, which will...

    Wet to Dry verge conversion

Thanks, I think I've decided against the dry verge anyway as I don't like the look of the one nearby! So it looks like a rake out and re-point the verge and maybe the ridge plus at least bird mesh and maybe soffits/facias to upvc at least on the back (where the conservatory impedes access).

    Wet to Dry verge conversion

At last, daylight and a working camera! as can be seen, the end of the verge and the end of the ridge have lost morter plus there are cracks along. the ridge has had bits of morter slip down onto the tiles over time but it's difficult to see where it's from. the conservatory is an issue with...

    Wet to Dry verge conversion

Good question, 3 things really, the main thing was that various lumps of mortar have fallen out over time, particularly at the ends of the verges and also from the ridge tiles. At the left side of the property is an area I would like to convert into a lean to shed, which will make future access...

    Wet to Dry verge conversion

It was a "bit" more than I expected! To be clear, this is the roof and the porch. Apparently, keeping it wet would cost even more than converting to dry. Got another guy coming to quote so will see how much, roughly what should it cost? The job I saw took just over a day with 2 guys. Might...

    Wet to Dry verge conversion

No, they were doing a job nearby so I decided to ask for a quote, I will be getting at least one more quote but wondered whether or not alteration to a dry system was always an absolute no-no they appear to have been in business since the 90s from what I can make out thanks

    Wet to Dry verge conversion

I've seen on here many times that conversion of a wet verge to a dry system is a no-no, however I've had a company do a quote for my roof and this is what they have suggested. I want to double check, as they aren't simply talking about capping the wet verge but converting it instead, the same...

    Washerless tap

Kitchen tap has been dripping for a while so I thought I'd get on and change the washer today, only there is no washer from what I see. I guess this is a cartridge tap and quite an old one so is the easiest way forward to change the tap itself? In which case are the stalks a fairly standard...

    kalevit loo access

Thanks its siamp monace fittings from the looks of it. Just checked YouTube and found its likely to be the inlet valve washer so think I'll isolate (no isolator so all water off!) And clean down before looking at replacing. Assume you can order from siamp?

    kalevit loo access

Hi, the fill valve on this seems to have died so I plan to replace it, only problem is there is no access to any plumbing. The bolts holding the cistern to the base are rusted to bits too! I'm assuming I will at least need to get the cistern off if not the whole thing? Anyone got advice or...

electrical socket from old emmersion heater

If the consumer unit has a higher rated MCB than it should then surelyva 13amp fcu is a pretty good weak point for a circuit even with just a single 20ish amp socket on? We don't know anything about the consumer unit so surely best to check before removing that weak link?
