Ok, I will stick with gas then. Just thought that as the boiler is very old and needs changing move over to elec as looks like gas boilers will be phased out over the coming years Thanks

    Electric boilers

Ok, thanks , I understand a bit more now. Also , I believe u can use an existing vented system or convert to pressured system. If sticking with vented does the f&e tank still have to be situated higher than elec boiler as with gas boiler? Probably a stupid question but my f&e tank is level with...

    Electric boilers

Thanks for that Muggles. So the output is 6kw, my old vented system is 12kw, I presume the 6kw is going to struggle. What would happen with 7 rads on 6kw, would they just not heat up properly.? Thanks

another question re: live feed from pump to boiler

Currently old vented system , S plan , no pump overrun. pump in airing cupboard. Moving to system or heat only boiler with separate pressure vessel and existing pump question is: would I need a live feed from pump only if using heat only boiler? with system boiler having pump built in I presume...

installer not vat reg and suggests I pay for parts

I have had other quotes, this is not really any cheaper bearing in mind there is no VAT Also 2nd floor flat , he will seal flue from inside but not from the outside, he obviously can't /won't climb a ladder and didn't mention scaffolding, is that ok? Thanks

installer not vat reg and suggests I pay for parts

Hi I had a recent quote for a replacement boiler , installer is not vat registered and suggested that I pay for boiler and other bits directly, either to the source that he uses or I can source my own. So I would pay the merchant directly and the boiler would be delivered to me directly. just...

will new boiler be too low?

yes, makes sense, may be difficult to use old square hole properly, will have to get someone else to quote as this guy, even with a scaffold, doesn't seem to want to drill a new hole above the old, thanks

will new boiler be too low?

thanks muggles, I realise your point, its just some makes don't do a 12kw, I was told Ideal don't gasmanstu yes that makes sense to me , just that the installer doesn't want to drill a new fluehole but wants to use existing which goes back to my original point of the new boiler being too low...

will new boiler be too low?

Ok, that's a good point but just not that keen on a company that asks for card details before even sending someone out and I think that's under warranty as well
