    Vaillant Flue Location

Hi, Just looking at the documentation for the boiler installation for the EcoTEC 618 System. It shows on page 14 a table of the distances away from items where you can terminate the flue. There are two items that confuse me: Which should I be following? The reason why this is relevant...

    Vaillant Boilers

Hi Guys, Sorry to pull up an old thread, but I'll still continuing to look at which control panel I want. Just noticed on the Vaillent website that they have released a new controller/timer - the VRC430. Just wondered what are differences with the VRC400 - apart from the obvious blue...

    Vaillant Boilers

This is how I see it - tell me if I am wrong.... :) : The 400 is a weather compensator which adjusts the boiler for optimum running - eg on hot days it doesn't heat as much - on cold days it heats it more. This uses a temp. sensor located on the outside of the building. The 400 does not...

    Vaillant Boilers

What is in the Unistor cylinders to make them so expensive - probably 3 or 4 times over a standard cylinder?? What I was saying is that if we did go for the UniStor one it probably would not have the facility for the solar heating connections. We would be looking in about 2-3 years for this...

    Vaillant Boilers

I would like to go for the Unistor cylinder but it is very expensive. Also, as I said previously, I will be looking at the solar heating which plumbs into the cylinder, so I don't really want to splash out on something now that may be the wrong. As for the VRC400, does it also monitor the...

So if I was going to go with the VRT360 instead, I would put this in a room, but this room should not have a TRV on the rads? If this is the case, I think it would be quite difficult to locate it as I was going to have 'non-TRV rads' in the 2 Bathrooms only. I was going to put the VRT360 in...

    Vaillant Boilers

Thanks for the info. How does the VRT400 work? I assume it detects the outside temp and switches on the boiler to avoid frost/freezing?? Do you not need a least 1 rad to not have a TRV, or doesn't it matter now? Cheers Ad.

    Vaillant Boilers

Hi Guys, Looking into finally replacing my 28 year old floor boiler and have settled on the Vaillant 618 System Boiler.. I have already calculated up all the new rads BTU and the 618 is fine. I have also selected the VRT360 for the control. The question is do I need and what is the...

    3 Compartment Trunking

Hi My Bad - completly forgot I posted this topic! Doh! I will probably want about 9m (3x 3m lengths I assume), in plastic with 2 right angle bends and about 8 double gangs for power and networking - so not much. TicklyT: I know what you mean! But I won't be having that many cables going...

    Bamboo Trees/Bush

Thanks for the info. I think I am going to have to just thin out just the tallest of them. I think this way will look the best Thanks Ad.

    Bamboo Trees/Bush

I will try and get one tomorrow - too dark now :) . We live in a town house and the tallest one is about the same height at the windows on the top floor.

Reducing height mostly - possibly a bit of thinning

    Internet Connection

Hi Bolo, As the other guys have said, because you have an USB ADSL modem which connects directly to the PC, the Windows Operating system needs to connect to the broadband connection using the modem. Instead of design a new set of connection screens etc, they had decided to reuse the existing...

    Bamboo Trees/Bush

Hi Guys, I have fairly big Bamboo tree/bush in out garden which has reached about 5-6m high. Whats the best way to cut it to not, a: Kill it and b: make it look like it has just been cut. I say this as the 'trunk' or stem obviously goes quite thick. Thanks Adam.

Install Manuals - Do they come with the Device??

Thanks RF - I think I now understand it! :) Didn't quite realise the amount of configureable options on the panel and even on the PIRs!! I assume thats why its a professional alarm! One other thing, on the wiring side. Is there any issues with wiring next to mains power or data coms cables...

Install Manuals - Do they come with the Device??

Hi, Hope you don't mind helping a novice installer - I stupidly thought it was going to be relatively easy to install the cabling :). I have started to read through the manuals for the Texecon Prem 24 panel but I can't seem to get my head around the detector connections. For connecting a...

    Linking Alarm Detectors

I just like going a bit OTT on things :) Suppose you are right, if I have a PIR, I won't need the mags! Also (rather than creating another thread), I have been looking through for a 6core wiring diagram. Is there a standard, or is it specific to the alarm you are using?
