    Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection

Many of the laptops at our work (HPs) have the 2200BG. As far as I am aware we have seen the particular you speak of, although the latest version from the Intel site 'seems' to be quite a major release for bug fixes etc., so I would recommend updating anyway - will do no harm ..... famous...

    MS access help

As far as I am aware I don't think you can do this. Can I ask why you want to do this, as I may be about to suggest any other way of achieving what you want.

Vista to XP "downgrade" - can I do this legally?

ninebob - what is the model of the laptop? I have HP and Dell XP Pro CDs (and some HP restore DVDs) which are BIOS locked so they are 'pre-activated' The HP one will work on all HP and Compaq PCs. We use these CDs to down grade from vista for our clients all the time.

I also have this issue in IE7. Doubt there is a way round it - probably down to the java version used by both web apps. I just cut a paste the correct tags to the right places. Ad.

Using Laptop as PC monitor - Possible?

If you are running graphically intense applications then the only way to go is a cheap 2 port KVM switch, else remote desktop would be OK. Make sure the KVM is a USB only to make sure it is compatible with the laptop. You can then place the laptop by the side of the pc the and then connect...

    New Alarm System

Hi Breezer, I have been thinking over night and this morning about this, and you are right, I should really put the fire alarms on a different system to the intruder alarm. I may be slightly confused to how the OSG describes the fire systems. It seems to seperate an actual alarm system...

    New Alarm System

Hmmm. I have just re-read a section in the 16ed and it states that The Building Regulations .... require all new and refurbished dwellings to be fitted with mains operated smoke alarms Our home is not either new or being refurbished. So we basically, as you say, do not have to comply with...

    New Alarm System

I have read through the electrican's guide and cannot find anywhere where it states that there should be a sounder in each bedroom. The only place I can find states: Page 163: '1.11 Smoke alarms should normally be positioned in the circulation spaces between sleeping spaces and places where...

    New Alarm System

I suppose I can fit an extra sounder on the ground of our 3 storey house - that should be no biggy. Although the house is over 3 floors, the floor dimensions are 5x8m - so its not that big. We have: Gnd Floor - Integral Garage, Lobby, Hall, Study, Utility room, WC 1st - Lounge, Kitchen-Diner...

    New Alarm System

as far as I am aware, it doesn't specifically state this, only that at least one detector should be on each floor. Quote from the guide states: '....and sufficient sounders to be clearly audible throughout the building.' The sounder will be loud enough to be heard in the house :)

    New Alarm System

I will purchase more detectors for it - this is just the base kit. I will probably purchase all separately, depending on cost. I have read through the regs in the 16ed and it states that the fire system needs to be interlinked (which it is) and a sounder needs to be located in such a place to...

    New Alarm System

I agree totally :) Have been looking at this type of system instead: http://www.alertelectrical.com/Fire-CO-and-Disabled-alarm-systems/ESP-Fireline-24v-Fire-Alarm-Systems/Fireline-24v-Fire-Alarm-Systems/2-zone-Fire-Alarm-System-24v-FKIT1.asp What do you think? Thanks Ad.

    New Alarm System

Na - it wasn't ADT - a (what I assume was) good local company. Yeah - just got my OSG and read up on it. I am suprised the guy didn't make it more clear to me while he was here tbh. I have also read the documentation he sent through and it does state that the alarm does not cover the BS5839...

    New Alarm System

Also, I have heard that as the smokes don't have inbuilt sounds (they rely on the external sounder) they will not pass building regs. Is this correct? Should I get 240v powered from the lighting/their own circuit instead? Thanks Adam.

    New Alarm System

Hi, I have got a local company round to give a quote for installing an alarm. We had agreed that I will install the wiring and they will terminal and commision. The have quoted £2200 for the below equipment, cabling and labour to install the following: 1x Honeywell Galaxy G2-20 Alarm...

    Socket Heights and Switches

I think what I will probably do it mount the board in a position to pass the inspection/tests etc. and then move it down afterwards. Everyone's happy then and non-the-wiser :) I would still like a possible solution to having an isolator switch to control all the sockets I have in that area...

    Socket Heights and Switches

even in a full house rewire - is this not classed as a major referb? I need to be sure on this because I will be doing the full rewire myself and then getting the council in to inspect and test. As this is the case, I need to be almost perfect in installation. I don't really want to be in...

    Socket Heights and Switches

How would I do it as a 'central isolation point' for all the sockets? (eg If I was going away for a few days and didn't want to pulling things apart to get access to the sockets). How would I go about doing this? I think what the guy was talking about is that if you have sockets in the...

    Socket Heights and Switches

It will be all the items for my A/V setup. This will include TV, Amp, Sub, Sky Box, Xbox 360, Wii, MediaCenterPC, DVD Player, some kind of AV distribution to other rooms. All the sockets/switches are outside of these limits. I thought as I am doing a full rewire you have to conform to the...

    Socket Heights and Switches

Hi Guys, Another regulation question.... I will be installing 6 double power sockets behind what will be a TV/AV 'centre' in the room. They will be mounted on a board with several other points for networking, speaker distribution, aerials etc. These sockets will be covered by a board with...
