Thanks m8 i never thought that supporting the bath was an alternative to screw the bath to the wall but i suppose that it is better than nothing if you can not find a stud or noggin to screw it to the wall.

BTW MeldrewsMate, if you apply silicon to the wall and then you push the bathtub against it, whats the point in gluing batten to the wall?

As for the bathtub panel yes indeed it is going to be a problem because the panel is going to be short but it is better to tackle that problem by making one with plywood than going for pipe alteration as i have mentioned earlier on.

Thanks again for your inputs guys. I would also go for waste pipe alteration but the the CI soil stack runs up on the outside wall and branches off through the bathroom wall so altering the bathtub waste pipe is not straightforward unless i chop off the the CI soil stack to lower the height of...

Hi transam thanks for the quick reply. It is a standard rectangular shaped bathtub. So do you mean to apply a bead of silicon sealant round its perimeter and shift it against the wall? Will that be enough? What do you mean "give the legs a tap back to the wall"? Ta.
