    testing pipework

Hi guys. I have fitted a towel rail and before the builders screw down plywood and lay out floor tiles i would like to test the c/h pipework for leaks as i have branched off in order to fit a towel rail. I have pressurized the system to 2.6 bars with cold water ( combi boiler) for 3 hours. You...

    hanging a radiator

Hi guys. Whats the best way of hanging a rad when the pipework is already there and the rad valves are already on the pipes? The rad was removed as wall had to be replastered. The thing is, i need to be spot on when i drill the holes for the rad brackets as i have to use spring toggles therefore...

    secure bathtub to stud wall

Thanks m8 i never thought that supporting the bath was an alternative to screw the bath to the wall but i suppose that it is better than nothing if you can not find a stud or noggin to screw it to the wall.

    waste pipe too high

As for the bathtub panel yes indeed it is going to be a problem because the panel is going to be short but it is better to tackle that problem by making one with plywood than going for pipe alteration as i have mentioned earlier on.

    waste pipe too high

Thanks again for your inputs guys. I would also go for waste pipe alteration but the the CI soil stack runs up on the outside wall and branches off through the bathroom wall so altering the bathtub waste pipe is not straightforward unless i chop off the the CI soil stack to lower the height of...

    waste pipe too high

Hi again guys. The existing copper waste pipe to connect up the new acrylic bathtub trap is too high. Of course i can adjust its legs but it does not look very stable. Could i just keep the legs short and rest the bathtub with its legs on planks of timber to make for the height?....or how would...

    secure bathtub to stud wall

Hi transam thanks for the quick reply. It is a standard rectangular shaped bathtub. So do you mean to apply a bead of silicon sealant round its perimeter and shift it against the wall? Will that be enough? What do you mean "give the legs a tap back to the wall"? Ta.

    secure bathtub to stud wall

Hi guys. A friend has bought a cheap plastic bathtub which came with some pieces ob timber spread around its perimeter under its lip....i suppose the pieces of timber are to secure the bathtub to the wall. My question is how am i supposed to secure it? Am i supposed to go under the bathtub and...

    spring toggle

Hi guys. Lath and plaster wall. Old plaster has been removed and wall has just been replastered. Is it ok to hang a big double panel rad with three brackets on spring toggle. i told the plasterer to add some noggins when he removed the old plaster but he did not do it. He said that it was ok to...

    Head of water

Imagine you have a 20m tank full of water. You drill a hole 1m below the shut off level and another hole 1m above the base of the tank. You will certainly have a greater jet of water coming out of the hole 1m above the base of the tank than coming out of the hole 1m below the shut off level...
