Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

When balancing my rads do I aim for 11 or 20'C DT across each rad? I've read that condensing boilers should have 20'C across them but i'm not sure if this is a condensing boiler

The pump is on auto and is as I found it. When I looked in the actual pump speed it showed that it was running at 15% even when in auto.

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

I've just come back in and gone to fire up the boiler for 30mins before I have to leave to go out again and went back to it after ten mins to find the boiler display showing an egg timer. I've just checked the staus code and sure enough it's displaying an S53 water shortage. This is the first...

Just out of interest, does the position of the adjustment screw look okay to you? It looks to be wound out but then has the green locktite around the base of the screw.

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

Okay that makes sense. I'll hopefully sort the heating out and then once this is sorted, play about with the gate valve on the hot water to get this set so it doesn't pinch too much heat from the radiator circuits. I'll monitor the status codes today to see if any anomalies show up and report...

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

Okay I've just checked this morning and confirmed that the zone valve for the hot water isn't passing by but the gate valve on the primary water outlet is 90% open, When you say throttled down, to what value? 20%? I read on another post that a bypass can sometimes be installed when there is an...

Image attached of the data plate. The Bungalow was converted by the previous owners and no expense has been spared on the rest of the house so I wouldn't have expected the boiler installation to be a crap job. It's a converted bungalow and is a decent size, the living/kitchen room alone is 12m...

The heatings been on for 3 hours, downstairs only and the return has increased to 59’C. the radiator temps At the top are from 40’C to 52’C so not great considering I have a flow of 75’C

It looks more like 22mm off the brass fitting from the boiler.

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

So ive closed the valve on the 'bypass line' and just had zone valve 1 open - which is for the downstairs rads only. The temps is about 10% better but the rads are still only about 51'C max, with a flow temp of 75'C. I've gone through the disgnostics menu and noted a couple of things D003...

Appreciate the help. I'll try closing it and see what effect it has on the radiators. The temps have never gotten above 48'C so far.

Yes that was my thinking but if I close the gate valve and the boiler is on. Where will the water go? Or would it trip on a high pressure fault?

Ive attached 2 images. So on the image that shows the zone valve, the 22mm going onto the top of the valves is the supply from the boiler. On this photo you will also see the other pipe the 'bypass' (marked with a yellow arrow) this has a gate valve on it that is fully open and goes back to the...

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

Hi, bit of an update on this. I removed 4 of the radiators downstairs and flushed them out. On a couple of them, black water did come out but not excessive amounts of sludge. I then checked the magnaclean last week and again found it slightly blocked so there must be some crap in the system...

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

Thanks for the reply. I’d say on most of them it is hot at the top but cold at the bottom tbh. I’ll try taking the rads off and look at the colour of the water at the same time. Hopefully they’re not too sludged up but I guess I’ll see. One tho g I am sure of is that each radiator doesn’t...

Valiant Ecotec Plus 637 radiators not heating up fully

Last year we moved into a converted bungalow that has a Valiant Eco tec plus 637 boiler. Along with a unvented hot water cylinder. The property has been refurbed and both of these are only a few years old. We have a circuit for downstairs and a circuit for upstairs heating, controlled by two...
