Radiator is using more water than before

Gas board? And trying to re calibrate the rads myself would likely result in my burning my street down

Radiator is using more water than before

Yes, but the other two radiators give consistent readings. Not 100% the same every time, but close enough. The radiator in question also has the same consistency. I've posted this on another forum too and people keep saying the same thing, about how it's impossible to determine how much is...

Radiator is using more water than before

    And how does one re-calibrate?

Radiator is using more water than before

I don't understand. I run one radiator, and check the usage by how many units have been used on the gas meter. Like I say, using the radiator for 20 minutes (average time I leave it on) would use x amount of units previously. Now its saying almost double. How is that not an accurate way of...

Radiator is using more water than before

When I run one of my radiators the gas meter says more gas is being used than I believe is true. The other radiators are fine. Say, previously, the radiator showed up as using 100 units for 20 minutes. Now, it's saying 200. Eon say a smart meter is needed/it's a fault on their end/whatever the...

    Soundproofing this window

I thought posting on here was a good place to start. When I say ''soundproofing'' I don't mean reducing traffic noise or such, I mean, specifically, if some idiot is stood forty yards from my house being loud and obnoxious that they'd be almost inaudible. I would get the window bricked off, but...

Sounds eminating from walls when house is cold

There don't appear to be any cracks on the exterior or interior walls. Someone mentioned to me how it might be something to do with the wooden window frames reacting to the changing temperatures. The most prominent noises come from right above the window. Could that be something to do with it?

Sounds eminating from walls when house is cold

I don't believe so. Not obvious if there are.

Sounds eminating from walls when house is cold

Don't know if it's a cavity wall. It's a really old building. Not built on a grave yard or any other kind of burial ground. Zero angry Indian spirits, thus far. Vibrates as it's near a main road. I only mention the vibration thing as that's when the noise occurs. It isn't as if the rest of the...

Sounds eminating from walls when house is cold

No. They'd probably cause more damage than they'd fix, you know what those blokes are like. Anyone else?

Sounds eminating from walls when house is cold

In winter, I'm getting these cracking and rattling sounds in my walls when the building vibrates. But in the summer, virtually non existent. Nothing to do with pipework, as there are no pipes in the wall in question. Did remove Creeping Ivy from said wall two years or so back. Wondering if...

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

Hi, Ken, Thanks for your reply. There is a radiator on the wall in question. I'm sure it's the pipes making the noise, how would I go about getting that sorted? Would a plumber be able to identify the pipe and fix it, if it's in the wall? Thanks.

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

Hi, Ken, I'm not sure what you mean by a ''fixing point''? There is one restrictor, and one catch. The kitchen is fine, but if there is to be a similar problem, I'd rather solve it before it begins. Still trying to find a handyman to take care of the bedroom window. The handyman my landlord...

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

Hi, again, I have a smaller window in the kitchen. As I am mostly downstairs, it's more important I don't start having any issues like this downstairs, so I wanted to ask if the configuration of the downstairs window is correct, or if that needs an extra catch? Thanks.

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

Hello, again, Thought maybe something else may be the cause, but that didn't pan out. Here's the photo's.

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

Thanks, Ken. I don't have a camera phone, but the next time I have access to one I'll take a photo.

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

Thanks very much, Ken, I really appreciate your input. I've been waiting on your replies rather than calling a handyman  I'll have another look at it.

Loose window making entire wall rattle?

I guess one is a restrictor? The top one stops the window from opening, the bottom one has several holes, which you use to keep the window open. It wouldn't surprise if it wasn't installed correctly, the landlord likes to cut corners. The hinges look fine, and are tightly in. The sash is drafty...
