Buying online (kitchen doors or units)

dextrous has probably nailed it. All I can add from personal experience is that I have used these guys but just for the supply of doors and rails. Didn't find their web site the easiest to use for what I was trying to order (but it was bespoke e.g. no hinge holes drilled or handles etc) but once...

    greenhouse glass sealing rolls

Would help if you detailed what you were looking at on e bay, but if it helps, I used Vallance Glazing Silicone, its clear and applied with a normal sealing gun. It was less than £3 a tube at one of the large DIY sheds (Q & B or sekiW). You pay your money, you take your chance........

    Header tank overflow

What does that mean (you guys don't help yourselves sometimes). Have you monitored the F/E tank with your system running and 1) Is the ballcock not opening to let more water in ? 2) Is the expansion pipe (overpumping) running into the F/E tank ? 3) Is the drip from the F/E overflow of low...

If your not sure of what we are saying, pay your £75 or upgrade.

    Patio cleaning question

Sharp, it wedges together and into the blocks unlike other (rounded and smooth) sands.

    Fitting extra RAM

Don't know what all those links say, but, only handle the RAM boards by their edges i.e. don't touch any of the circuitry and for the same reason (STATIC electricity in you), earth yourself just before handling. If your next to a radiator, touching bare exposed metal on it will do, but for the...

    greenhouse positioning

Sun all day will be far too hot. Best option from your list is shade in the afternoon as other option leaves some plants perm in sun and others perm in shade.

    Decking

Agree with wabbitpoo. The noggins are mainly there just to stiffen everything up, so just use a bit of judgement. My joists and noggins are 6"x2" on a 2 mtr span and I alternated between 1 noggin, 2 noggins, 1 noggins etc and its very stiff. Don't forget that adding the deck boards themselves...

    Which water softener is best?

    1) See my post here http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=76188 , now 4 years on and still delighted. 2) Everything benefits except do not soften to sink for cooking and no point softening and garden taps as its just a waste of salt.

Icon airflow - size and noise?

    (i) Go to their site, it gives you extraction rates for each model so you can calculate the room refresh rate for your size of room. (ii) Noisy on start up then quieten down, but not a quiet fan. (iii) No comment on your zoning requirements.

    waterlogged shed base

Gravity. Either don't put the shed in a hole, or have the shed 'hole' drained to a lower part of the garden. Even then you will have water constantly passing through the hole so I would suggest you fix it 'above ground'.

    DWARF FRUIT TREES

Putting a full size tree in a pot and pruning it hard will just make its short life a misery and you will eventually loose it. I bought some mini fruit trees last year (just £10 each) which are suitable for pots, supplied as 5' tall and only growing to 6 or 7'. Amazingly, only 2 or 3 months...

    Bath support "W" type

Do you mean home made battens that you are going to fix to the walls ? or do you mean the pre-fitted battens that run all the way around the top of the bath under the lip ? Firstly, back to the W shape supports, yes, these are normally the only fixings that come with a bath. The bottom of the...

toilet cistern keeps running but does not fill

And fixergirl, read the rules and don't post same thing twice under different topic headings. I've just wasted time replying to your duplicate when it had already been answered here. Shall I waste my time on you again !

Cistern - dual flush button - I cannot get the top off

The dual flush buttons on the top are in an outer ring. The outer ring needs to be unscrewed to allow the top to come of. It may be difficult to get a grip on the outer ring if it is shiney, best to put some rubber gloves on, pres down on the ring and turn at the same time.
