Moving a toilet a few inches sideways

Hi Thanks a lot lads! Close coupled with the soil pipe coming straight in from the back. The mulitkwik looks like it would do the job but in a horizontal position I think it would really show. The plaster around the soil pipe on the inner leaf of the wall has failed and the hole is packed...

Moving a toilet a few inches sideways

Hi Everyone I am "doing up" my bathroom and the toilet waste pipe has not been fitted central on the wall so the toilet is about 3" off centre. Normally this wouldn't be a problem but the bath takes up quite a bit of space on that wall and I would like to put the new toilet in the centre of...

Best way to tidy this up?

Hi Everyone 'tis a bathroom but not the wet side. Took out the old plasterboard and got the green plasterboard in. First mistake didn't state square edge or taper. Second. Didn't realise that new board is now metric sized. 1200mm instead of the old 1220mm - same with the height no...

    Fiesta Rear Brake Drum

Hi Everyone I normally do my own brakes but I'm stuck here! I am used to seeing castellated nuts with a split pin and the crown type of washer to lock the nut. I went to take off the drums and the nut was covered in a steel cover like cheese wedge shapes that had to be bent back and the nut...

    Fiesta Heater no heat!

Hi All Took the car to a Ford dealer (big mistake!). Thought they may have the best gear to diagonose. Anyway they pressurised the system said they found leak in expansion tank and fitted a new one. When I got the car back yesterday the coolant was full of rusty scum and frothing up in the...

    Fiesta Heater no heat!

Hi Everyone This problem has occured again. The coolant level has not needed topping up since I first started this topic in January. I checked the level about a week ago and it was fine. Yesterday I stopped after a journey of about 5 miles and I could smell the engine from outside the car and...

Best way to tidy this up?

Thanks lads I'll take the advice and take it out and replace. It's not as though Plasterboard is expensive. Can you paint directly onto plasterboard if you have concealed the joins well or does it always need skimming? G.

Best way to tidy this up?

I have removed the tiles from floor to ceiling. Wife doesn't want tiles on this wall. Thought I would first: PVA and fill in the large holes first with patching plaster. Not bother trying to scrape the tile cement off but PVA again and thin skim of multi finish level with top of tile cement...

    Replacing rotten flat roof

HI I have a porch (looks diy) built on to the back of the house about 1m x 2m with a flat felt roof. It leaked like a sieve (temporarily fixed with bitumen) and the timber is rotten so it will have to be repaired. It is a rather dark corner of the house so I would like to replace the roof...

    Double Glazing "Bendy Glass"

Nice to know I am not imagining it or hallucinating Just been chatting to a Window man he says it is cheap toughened glass. Says the cavity will be about 20mm at the edged but gets closer toward the middle and this is what causes the distortion. g.

    Double Glazing "Bendy Glass"

Hi Know it sounds a bit crazy but I am getting quotes for Double Glazing and want to avoid "Bendy Glass" All the salesman reckon I am making it up but I can see the difference. I have noticed that with some glazing the reflections are all distorted and bendy like looking in a hall of mirrors...

    End of the world!!

Hi Lads Thanks for all the pointers - looks like ebay is best bet - as you can see I am onto them! I'm sure I'll get one somewhere but as you know with any well loved tool it will be sadly missed. When sharpened properly the countersink bit for this is the best ever. None of those triangular...

    End of the world!!

Hi Everyone The ratchet selector of my Stanley Yankee 130A has dropped out and gone forever. I have used this Spiral Ratchet Screwdriver for over 25 years and I am absolutely gutted! I know power drivers now rule the world but there is nothing to compare with this screwdriver - in my opinion...

Repainting front door - to strip or not?

Have you done stripping off before? I've done this and it is a lot of (messy) work. I would think twice unless the old paint is really too far gone. Even after stripping there is still a fair bit of rubbing down to do if you want a good finish. G.
