Replacing lawn with slate chippings - not going well

I'm hoping to put down 40mm slate chippings in about a week's time. I've dug up the turf with the intention of going down about 70mm and laying about 50mm deep of the slate chippings but I seem to have made a pig's ear out of it. I guess it was so hot yesterday I wasn't paying attention coupled...

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

To be honest I thought it would be a simple straight forward job for not much money at all and still believe it can be. It's just finding the right materials to use. If it was a similar job for inside the house then no problem: 15mm copper or plastic pipe with either compression, solder or...

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

That would be ideal but she can't afford it, so it's either DIY or not at all, hence using this forum. I know I could do it once I know which stuff to use, obviously not a pro but I moved some of the rads in my house among other stuff without issue. Thanks anyway for your help and advice.

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

Thanks, what pipe is used (outside) for this? I thought black waste pipe would do but the smallest is 32mm and then it has to be fitted to a garden tap which all seem to be compression fitment.

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

Unfortunately the bathroom is in the middle of the house with the exterior wall you see in the photo.

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

Apologies, I don't know what you mean. Down from the loft? There's no water supply there.

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

No unfortunately, the room at the back is her living room. There is a downstairs toilet between the kitchen and the living room.

    Outside tap pipe extension feasible?

My friend's new build house does not have an outside tap in her rear garden. She now has an outside tap at the front of the house below her kitchen (photo taken before the installation) window. Rather than the rigmarole of navigating a long garden hose along the side of the house, between...

    How deep should gravel be?

    Definitely! Thanks.

Turning weed infested garden into gravel, ideas?

Thanks for the advice. I'll get her to check for any restrictions and warn her about being sued if that's a real possibility, I'm sure there's plenty of opportunists around as well. 'Keeping on top of it' might be an issue as that's the reason for going with gravel - little maintenance. That...

Turning weed infested garden into gravel, ideas?

I said to my friend that I'll try and help her with her front garden. It's a new build and as you can see the weeds have taken over! I don't know much about gardening but the ground below the turf seems poor and can't tell if it's sod or fine rubble! I don't think all areas are the same...

How to secure blinds when lintels are in the way?

Yes, I saw that and prepped the HSS drill bit and screws as a backup. I'm so glad I did because the 32mm TEK screws were just too short. I've never really drilled into steel before and watched a few other videos on how to do it using a cordless drill taken into account the speed and torque...

How to secure blinds when lintels are in the way?

Thank you, I understand now. I already bought a box of 32mm, I'll double-check to try to be sure in case I might need longer ones.

    How deep should gravel be?

Thank you. That's quite a bit less.....and much cheaper! 4" did seem quite deep, maybe the website wants me to buy more!

    How deep should gravel be?

I'm going to replace a small weed-infested front garden with some gravel. It's been advised on websites that it should be 4" inches deep but that 'seems' to be when it's expected to be walked on. This will not be walked on but purely for cosmetics and easy maintenance. Should it still be 4"...

How to secure blinds when lintels are in the way?

Fantastic, thank you, really appreciate this as I'm doing this for someone else. So if the thickness of the plaster is just over 20mm then do I just need 25mm like this one or the 32mm to be sure?

How to secure blinds when lintels are in the way?

Thanks for that, that looks simpler. Had a look at some video tutorials and it seems crucial to make sure the lintel is not thicker than the drilling part of the screw. How thick is your typical window lintel? Did a search and it seems to be about 6mm. Also would there be normally brick placed...

How to secure blinds when lintels are in the way?

I'm trying to put several zebra (night & day) roller blinds up. They're quite heavy compared to your usual ones. They don't have side brackets but clips that are fixed to the roof of the window recesses. The problem is with this new build house is that there seems to be lintels directly behind...

    Something to be concerned about?

Thanks for all your replies. I know what you're saying about the length of cables, mine's 3 metres. I've tried different ones, ones using repeaters, trying a Y adaptor to boost power from another port, foregoing the wall port connections to cut out any middlemen etc. It was all sporadic...

    Something to be concerned about?

Ah, the fridge. That would certainly tick the boxes for the cause. My PC setup isn't really typical. The PC (which is not strictly in an enclosed case but water cooled on an open test bench) sits under the stairs next to the gas & electric meters along with the CU(!). I have a video and two USB...
