    Discovery2 steering pump

Nightmare!!!!!!! Ok so I got the fan off, then the belt and pulley. I had a right job releasing the union nut on the (feed?) pipe on the side of the pump, but got there in the end after copious applications of WD40 and a wallop with a hammer, then it was a matter of doing it all again in...

    Building a Gate On Path

Depends on how deep your pockets are, but personally, I would consider having something made up by the local blacksmith to match the existing railings on top of that wall

Walnut flooring best way to fix to asphalt

Is it T&G? If so, have you considered floating it? I had an old cottage with an ashpalt floor and I put down T&G Oak as a floating floor on top of green fibre board underlay boards. It worked fine for me.

    Discovery2 steering pump

The power steering on my disco has started whining badly and from a bit of research it seems likely its the pump. I have got hold of one and have looked online as to how to fit it, but my question is this.... It does not seem clear from the instructions I have read as to whether I need to...

What do you call these ???

I'd be careful and make sure that your brackets would fit another manufacturers uprights. Wouldn't surprise me if they were sized to only fit their system.

    Newel cap

TBH, and I know you aren't going to like me for saying this, but the chances of you staining the wood so it all matches are slim. Its likely therefore to end up with rail, newel and cap all slightly different shades. I would be tempted to repaint. By the way, the rail lookes like mahogony, so...

wire wool left on real oak worktop for days! Bad stain help!

I agree. It will never look right, whatever you do, the most I think you can hope for is to lighten it a bit. I would be getting the plumber to pay for a replacement.

    Jackdaw Nests

Could you try to fish it out? I'm thinking attaching a large hook to the end of a broom handle, poke it down and twist a bit and then pull the material out?

A gaps has developed where our extension meets the house?

Personally, if it was my extension then I would have wanted the outer brickwork toothed in. I would also be concerned that the downpipe does not appear to go into a drain, but just spills out onto the broken concrete, which in itself appears to be a bit of a mess.
