Valve on unvented cylinder hot outlet

Thanks. I kinda argued the point with the engineer. He sort of backed down a bit. Then proceeded to write in his report that it should really be changed..

Valve on unvented cylinder hot outlet

Is or isn’t this hazardous? This was pointed out to me today when having an unvented cylinder check carried out. There’s a lever valve at the top of the cylinder on it’s hot outlet. I couldn’t say why it was put there, and I appreciate it’s unusual, but is it in any way dangerous? My argument...

    Pneumatic flush valve sticking

Bump. Should the flush valve pretty much turn and come out of the cistern for me to try and analyse what’s going on with it? Thanks

    Pneumatic flush valve sticking

Had months of trouble free use since fitted by me mid 2019 but lately sometimes the flush valve sticks open (see picture) so water just runs into the pan. The centre plastic doesn’t drop down as it should. Seems ok for a half flush. It feels like it must be sticking on a plastic tab because...

    Fixing old style flush

Thanks very much for your reply. It’ll maybe become apparent ok, but what does the pin you refer to do?

    Fixing old style flush

Hi, Can you help me folks! I’ve some experience of the new type flushes but not these. It’s a wall mounted plastic cistern sitting well above the pan. It’s taking ages to fill and water is dripping from below the green plastic part when I assume it’s meant to flow out of the small white spout...

Getting good fixing for wall hung vanity unit

Thanks J+K too. Yes, I blasted some air into each drilled hole then tried to vacuum it too!

Getting good fixing for wall hung vanity unit

I like your thinking opps, thanks for that Those perforated Fischer inserts are good to know about and certainly quite interesting. Great idea As everyone can imagine it’s tricky to know exactly where and what you’ve drilled into in this situation. I’ve done it now and basically what I chose...

Getting good fixing for wall hung vanity unit

Exactly my feels about it. Any further suggestions, if it'll squirt in through a drilled tile is my idea a decent one?

Getting good fixing for wall hung vanity unit

Thanks for reply. Hmm, dunno tbh. I was trying to fix timber stud to the opposite wall with quite heavy long screw bolts and it seemed bit of a hit or miss to get a good fixing!

Getting good fixing for wall hung vanity unit

hi, I’m going to need to fix either a basin or vanity that has to be wall hung. I’m concerned about what’s behind tiles not being great for good fixings My wall make up is bricks-thick ancient plaster-dot and dabbed plaster board then the tiles. The bricks are probably about 3” from finished...

    Matching RAL Hormann Garage Door

Unfortunately two are telling me it won’t scan due to the metallic. Here’s a picture of it. It’s only when you look really really closely you can see it is a metallic, it generally just looks like a mid/gunmetal grey.

    Matching RAL Hormann Garage Door

Many thanks for that. Spraying was crossing my mind but as you say 2K car type paint so not ideal. On the Hormann swatch the colour doesn’t look particularly metallic, I would say the effect is more in the sheen/look of it. The house door is nearly 3m from the two garage doors so I’m thinking...

    Matching RAL Hormann Garage Door

Hi, This is in regard to getting a suitable match for a currently eggshell finished T+G timber door. The catch is the colour RAL 9007 aluminium grey is a metallic. Anyone experienced the likes of this, what would be the best way to try and match it? My local suppliers can’t seem to scan it...

    Unvented investigating

Hi Ian I’ve spoken to Ariston a few times now and seen the element incorporates the anode. There aren’t separate anodes on this cylinder. Here’s pics. Other cruddy element is top one. You can see the anode furred up (I know doing its job..) How do those anodes seem size wise? Just a thought of...

    Unvented investigating

To update more than anything. I want to get a check done on the system again soon anyway so my plan is to get a G3 plumber to further work on and fill/check the system. Advice above seemed to be just needing a ‘stat so I got one. You’ll see above accessing was a concern. I wanted to see if it...

    Unvented investigating

Thanks. Well 3 different cylinder installs I have all within about a year thankfully (touch wood..) so far this is the first failure. Possibly no bad thing I was a hovering lurker during installations! There was stuff I avoided because I spoke up like daft placement of an expansion vessel and...

    Unvented investigating

What sort of failures are you referring to, bursts of some sort? That doesn't sound pleasant. I'd have thought/hoped a failure might mean blow off blowing off! ..So probably the passer by outside getting scalded not the person in the flat underneath! Interested to know what sort of failure...

    Unvented investigating

Gotcha. I have endeavoured to get the cylinders we have checked annually too. Btw I do know what sacrificial anodes are for. As I mentioned above I do understand the system pretty well. I know the importance of safety regarding them too.
