    FLUELESS FIRES

You CAN use steel wool for cleaning copper but a better job is to use the rough plastic stuff you get for scouring pans, which is available in decorators etc as it is inert and does not leave strands of steel to corrode. Don't use washing up liquid in push fits, it can degrade the rubber seal...

    fireplace

Thanks! The fire is to be an 'open fire' ie coal n logs sitting on a cast grate. I've knocked the existing tiny hole bigger to accept fire bricks and grate. I guess I'm being a bit dozy re bricks being made in hot furnaces! The plan is now to fill extra space with commons, line with fire bricks...

    Drilling plasterboard

PS When fixing curtain rails, I find the strongest option is to fit a wood batten the length of the rail, which you can fix at as many points as you wish (as above), and also glue to wall with proprietory 'sticks everything to everything'type adhesive. this gives a strong base to screw rail...

Not a problem but advice would be good on what types of bricks would be suitable, and what mortar mixes would work- it would use a lot of premix fire cement! Oh, one other...

    part p manual

To Prentice - the course includes part p defined as part of the package and didn't know I would not need it - having got to know the training provider there is a good chance it is a scam to screw more money from the likes of me. By the way the training provider is '*** training ltd'.

    thermostatic shower problem

Thanks for your replies. If I find it is direct, can I reduce cold pressure with a valve or a flow regulator, and might this solve things? What I can't understand is that it was working ok and now.............

    thermostatic shower problem

It's gravity fed (in an old pub), cold could be mains pressure or from a header, I've not yet looked.
