    Rewiring and adding drywall

My house needs a rewire, but it's incredibly messy and disruptive. It also has horrible woodchip wallpaper, and painted over wallpaper, and Artex, in a lot of places. Someone suggested fitting drywall over the existing walls, rather than trying to strip them back and re-plaster them. Sounds...

    Creating shade for large windows

Thanks, I was thinking the same thing. It's best to reflect the energy before it enters the house. Integrated blinds are half way to doing that. I was thinking of getting some UV cut film to protect some stuff inside anyway, but an external coating should be even better.

    Creating shade for large windows

That's a good idea. Can you have then for windows on the upper floor of the house though? I'd be a bit worried about maintenance and wind up there.

Double glazed windows keep exploding advice needed?

You could try to keep the rain and sun off them with shade, or paint them white. Sounds like they need replacing with something that isn't inevitably going to fail though.

    Creating shade for large windows

We have some large windows, I don't know what you call them but basically like this: They are south facing and let a lot of heat in during the summer. We are having them replaced and looking for good options to keep the heat out. They are a bit large for outside shutters, unless anyone knows...

Double glazed windows keep exploding advice needed?

Seems to be heat related. Expanding/contracting frames? Are they PVC or something else? Seems like a design flaw.

Is it possible to have "full" and "dim" lightswitches?

Yeah I'd want a proper dimmer that chops the waveform. Maybe the simplest option is to have two lighting circuits, but I am struggling to find a bathroom light fixture that takes two separate bulbs.

Is it possible to have "full" and "dim" lightswitches?

Any idea where I might buy something like that? Or what keywords to search for? I can't find any...

Is it possible to have "full" and "dim" lightswitches?

Yes, that's exactly what I want. Thanks.

Is it possible to have "full" and "dim" lightswitches?

Is is possible to have two light switches for one light, one of which turns it on full and one of which comes on dim? I've seen some wifi dimmer modules have provision for a simple on/off switch as well. Is there any kind of dumb non-wifi dimmer module like that, where I can just set the...

Options to fix really bad woodchip walls

I'm thinking it might be less hassle and mess to overboard with plasterboard screwed in to the brickwork. Will that work?

Options to fix really bad woodchip walls

Thanks. Will the wallpaper stripper work okay with a few layers of paint in the way?

Options to fix really bad woodchip walls

I'm looking at options to renovate a house where most of the walls are really bad. The plaster crumbles when you try to put nails in, and it's all been covered in woodchip wallpaper which has then been painted over several times. I'd like to get it nice and smooth. New skirting boards, maybe...
