    Filling wood worktop knot

Thanks guys. Think I might be stuffed here. Cant cut it shorter as its cut to the right length already, and cant turn it round this is the 'good' side. @lostinthelight why would you not want to do filling, aesthetic reasons, or others?

    Filling wood worktop knot

Hello, Just installing a solid oak worktop, and where it joins on to another (butt join) there is a small bit missing where there must of been a knot. As recommended by the worktop people, its being joined with mitre seal, but would people recommend filling this bit with something solid...

    Worktop jig sizes

Butting up corners. I think you may be right about not needing the jig, but why do jigs have the bolt holes, is it that easy to do it without a jig accurately? Thanks.

Im planning to use a jigsaw to cut these. It may be best to use a jigsaw as...

    Integrated appliance support panels

Hello! Just planning my kitchen at the moment, and have a question about integrated appliance support panels. B&Q designed the kitchen and put support panels either side of the dishwasher. They said it gives stability but isn't necessary. Can you see a reason to have them seeing that there is...

    Extending a circuit

Hello all, I need to extend a ring cirucit in the middle, basically it comes out of the floor and need to make part of the cable longer. I was going to use something like this: http://www.screwfix.com/p/30a-3-terminal-junction-box-white/5866d or http://www.screwfix.com/p/chocbox/54936 My...

    Kitchen wiring plans

Kitchen is its own ring yep! There is an extra socket on the long wall next to the oven on a different circuit which the fridge freezer is plugged in to. The floor is mostly concrete, some of it is floorboards! Its a 1930's house, but as I say the Kitchen has had the extension, hence the concrete.

    Kitchen wiring plans

Well the kitchen is quite long and thin as it has been extended. So the main sockets are along the long side, plug a couple on the left side of the extension. There is 1 double socket along the dining room wall as per below but its on the ground floor ring, not kitchen. There is nothing on this...

    Kitchen wiring plans

Yes I think there is a fine line being drawn here. I'm not touching the cables from the CU, but replacing the rest of the cable to tidy and adding some new spurs/sockets. I am planning to get an electrician in to test/inspect.

    Kitchen wiring plans

Thanks all for your input so far. There is already 2x 2.5mm coming from the Consumer unit as it was a ring before I tore it out. If I change it to a radial, I have to dig up the floor to replace the existing cable some distance. If a radial is very much recommended now then thats fine, so my...

    Kitchen wiring plans

Ok Thanks That's interesting. I always thought it would be better to have a ring where possible to help spread the load as such, especially where we have high drain appliances like the washing machine, dishwater, microwave oven and kettle. This is why I like coming here to get viewpoints. I was...
