    4 core isolation.

The whole lot can be shut off from the fused spur in the airing cupboard, but if I have local isolation for the boiler in the kitchen- as its a 4 core supply from the wiring centre, I assume (assumption being the mother of all fekups) that I need a switch that will accomodate both lives? PS...

    4 core isolation.

Fused switch and control box in upstairs airing cupboard. Boiler downstairs in kitchen. New boiler needs 4 core (old was 3). My understanding was that the boiler should be capable of being isolated locally. Am I right? Just want to have the right bits in the right places for elecrical man when...

    4 core isolation.

Hello guys, can't get hold of my spark to ask today and need a clue to prepare a job so- I want to add local isolation to a four core (LNE and switch live) flex to a boiler. Is there a switch that incorporates the extra terminal? Thanks.

    Combi flues off square?

Generally the flue elbow will only screwed to the boiler at set positions. Best check with the manufacturer of the model in mind.

    Pumping over problem

What timing! I flushed one today that had ground to a halt due to very serious sludge. Got it all clean, 3 port ok, fitted shiny new pump and the bugger pumps over a little on 2. On 1 it won't circulate. The set up is boiler on ground floor and the rest in airing cupboard. Its what I call an 'H'...

    rad valve tool

If its a 3/4" then pop into a merchant and they'll sell you the key, or a universal end for a ratchet is much better if you've a few to do. If its 1/2" you'll only need a spanner.

    What's this valve for?

Hmm. Think I saw a cyl stat. Maybe the little blighter is redundant. The other gubbins isn't 1971, more 2001. Thanks Kev.

    What's this valve for?

 Sorry Kev, didn't get a pic and won't see it again until end of week. What be a 'cytrol' then? First glance it looks like a rad valve on the return from the cylinder- then realised it wasn't quite!

    What's this valve for?

Cylinder flow 22mm, return 15mm into what looks alot like an angled rad valve. Has same (?) 3/4" fitting before going back to 22mm. Those sizes may be imperial as its a 1971 arrangement. The valve has no spindle head but a screw inside and a little plastic cap. I've seen it discussed somewhere-...

    One bad apple

Having you been topping up the pressure when you've been bleeding? Highly doubt you have a blockage but you probably have a leak somewhere.

    Gas Fire ventilation

With regards to the air brick and floor, there is a build system where you end up with a solid floor but it's suspended and ventilated. Foxed me when I visited a friends new house a few years back and saw the air bricks. The builder did say what they call it- but I forget.

    Colours of sludge.

Cheers Chris. Got to flush a nasty old system that was obviously in a really bad way. Broke into the primaries and they're dripping chocolate, possibly the worst I've seen. Dismantled the pump to see if it was salvageable (cheapskates). Scraping off the chocolate revealed a thick layer of black...

    Colours of sludge.

What's the difference, (apart from the colour) between black (magnetite?) and the chocolate brown stuff? Are they caused by different things? Saw web site once where it was all explained but have forgotten and can't find it.Thanks.

    28mm ABV

Planning an install with 28mm primaries and wanted to go s plan- but then I saw the price of a 28mm ABV. Anyone know of one that's less than about £90+vat? Are they all angled or is there a straight one anywhere in 22mm? If not it'll have to be Y plan and go in after the 3 port. Ta.
