    Stuart Turner single pump issue

I have a Stuart Turner U2.0 bar Single pump fitted to boost my hot water. It's about 10 years old but it's had the same problem from day 1 & ST aren't very helpful so I wonder if someone can advise. Every hour or two, it bursts into life for a few seconds & then switches off. I have hot...

    What's wrong with my fridge?

I'm in the UK & have an 11 year old Hotpoint Future fridge & the back of it keeps freezing food. The seals are good, the temp setting is "normal", I don't add hot food to chill in it & don't open it more than necessary ie I've checked the basics & haven't found the solution. There seems to be...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

SUCCESS! I finally got around to removing the (sealed) silencer & it appeared to be OK. I then spent 15 minutes bashing it against an anvil until I got lots of carbon deposits out. Reassembled & it runs perfectly at all angles. Many thanks to all who got involved in this problem, especially...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Thanks Nige. It went wrong quite suddenly so I doubt it's clogged. However, I'm not far from setting the whole thing on fire!

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Sorry for the late reply. I'll try removing the silencer & see if it runs better. It used to run best when pointing upwards, but now it cuts out straight away when vertical. Maybe there is a loose baffle, as you suggest. I'm fairly certain nothing is wrong on the inlet side or electrics so...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Hi John. I've finally had another look at the hedgetrimmer (it has been too cold in the garage for the past few months). Yet again, I pulled the new carb off looking for air leaks. I removed the heat insulator too so I could actually see the piston. No air leaks anywhere that I could see &...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Thanks again, John. Yes, I think it's the slow running mixture screw, but it's full throttle I'm having the problem with. I did fit this replacement engine as I loaned it to someone who ran without oil & seized it. I'll strip & inspect as you suggest, looking for air leaks. I'l keep you...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Thanks John. We know it has to be fuel related so there aren't too many things it can be on a simple 2 stroke engine. Plenty of fuel in the tank & no air bubbles in the fuel line. BTW, the new carb doesn't have the tiny air hole that leads to the crankcase like the original carb had but the...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Hi John. Well, I fitted the new carb & it still bogs down & runs faster or slower depending on which way it's facing. Could it be a fracture in the heatproof manifold that's sucking in air to cause bogging down? I'm running out of things to replace! Cheers, Paul

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Ethanol causes more problems than it's supposed to solve. Perhaps my problem is an air leak into the black rubber fuel pipe but I don't have any spare. I've tried putting my finger around the grommet while it is running but it doesn't cure the fault. Hopefully a new carb will. 1 month before...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

I've checked & rechecked anywhere that can suck air in behind the carb. No joy. I've now ordered a new carb from China for the princely sum of £8. Fingers crossed! Thanks again for the advice, John.

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

I've just been watching a very informative YouTube video on what causes bogging down ie weak mixture. I'm going to loosen the filler cap first & if that doesn't fix it, I'll double check all gaskets on the engine side of the carb to see if it's sucking air in. I'll keep you posted, John.

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Found a site that sells carbs from China for about a tenner. I've thrown away the details of exactly which carb it is so it has to come off, again! Cheers

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Thanks John. I just get the mist when running without the air cleaner. No leaks as such. I've just stripped again (3rd time), engine cleaner in all holes, blew out with compressed air, ultrasonic clean, another blow though & it's just the same. No H & L screws I'm afraid. Only tickover...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Hi John, Unfortunately the old problem has returned. Yesterday I couldn't even trim a box hedge as the revs are so low when pointing downwards. Had to use a rechargeable trimmer as it had more power than my 2 stroke Hitachi! I'm going to strip the carb down again & reassemble but don't know...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

REWIND I've just used it in anger & it seems to be running much better than before & is usable now. The carb overhaul seems to have fixed it. It doesn't rev up as quickly as it once did, but the fuel is old & there's probably too much oil in the mix given the blue smoke. Thanks again for your...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

I've stripped, cleaned & rebuilt the carb. All new gaskets, diaphragm, mesh filter & needle valve. Runs with more revs & power, but still slows when trimmer pointing down. It runs better with no filter so that's been washed & is now drying. Slight spray coming from carb mouth at times. Plug...

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

I've ordered this parts kit. I hope it's the right one as I have hedges that need cutting. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CARBURETTOR-DIAPHRAGM-GASKET-SET-FOR-WALBRO-KOMATSU-G22L-G23L-TR200-XE32-K20-WYL/133163151716

    Petrol hedgetrimmer problem

Hi John. I've taken the carb off & here are the details: It's a Walbro WYL. Also has 212 945 stamped on it. I've googled Walbro WYL & it keeps coming up with K20 WYL. GHS sell a kit for Walbro WYL 1-125 & 136-140, but mine is a 212. It also includes full strip down gaskets & imagine I just...
