I guess to me that means the stat is faulty. It looks like it slides out and hopefully easily wired in. I'm not sure what would have caused it and would be worried a new one would go too.

TBH there are so many settings on the multimeter and so many wire combinations that I would assume I am an ass. I was trying to follow your instructions literally!

I also get 221 on the two smaller element end the blue is attached to.

Sorry I'm trying to be extra precise but maybe confusing things. If I just use only the black probe and touch anywhere it's 0. If I repeat but place the red probe on earth I get 221 on the left blue terminal, 0 on right blue, and 221 on the brown and black.

0 all the time. if I put the red wire on earth in the immersion the the left blue terminal reads 221

If i touch the earth in the switch with the black probe and then the red against black or brown going to the immersion I get 221 reading. If I repeat in the immersion I get the same... when the power is on obviously .
