    yellow spots

Good morning! I have tried the easiest suggested remedy first and sprayed a white vinegar solution over the yellow spots. Immediately the spots faded dramatically when I wiped it off. Magic! :D You can still see them a little but you have to look hard and I think when it has dried I may be...

Thanks John - I feel reassured again especially if it's just a case of ventilation. You did make me laugh! I will investigate tomorrow and do all the suggested tests.

Brilliant! I'll print that off and get upstairs tomorrow with my bucket and spray. At least it's not dog vomit slime mould!!! ( I hope!) That was really good of you to take the trouble to find that. Many Thanks

    yellow spots

Thanks for all the advice. It is an outside wall and I suppose there might be guttering problems but it is so difficult to see as you can't really get round that side to see. Here is a photo ( really embarrassing!) Thanks again gentlemen. [/img]

    yellow spots

Hi John, What would I do without you! I will give the bleach solution or vinegar a go. You don't sound too worried so that is very reassuring. It is lining paper that is painted and as you know it is an old house. Thanks for your help.

    yellow spots

Hi, I have noticed some yellowy spots at the top of a spare bedroom wall. They have spread to about 2 feet wide but don't seem to be spreading anymore. I am assuming they are mould or damp (gulp!) but really don't know. I also tried to cover up some with paint but no success. Can anyone tell me...

    dripping shower head

That is helpful John thank you - I will try not to get too depressed. Some cunning ideas for drip management as well - why didn't I think of that! (Don't answer! :? ) My house was built in 1860 and so really by now I should be used to things going wrong all the time but it just seems to be one...

    dripping shower head

Well the shower is only a few years old so I'm a bit disappointed in it. It is an Aqualisa but I can't find the model number. Looks like it's going to be a major job.

    dripping shower head

Hallo, My shower head has suddenly developed an annoying drip. Is it a case of just buying a new shower head to replace the old one (which even I could do!) or is the problem originating from the unit fixed into the wall ?!!

To strip or not to strip!

Hallo, I have a problem with my daughter's bedroom wallpaper. It is slightly textured - just a little bit raised as the walls are quite bad underneath. I painted it many years ago , using it as a lining paper but it has been a nightmare ever since. The little bobbles tend to attract the dirt...

    draughty vent axia

John, I have just seen a small and cheap hood on Comet website called Turboair Latina £ 37.49. If you have time could you take a look and let me know if that is the sort that can be fitted on the side wall rather than above. Thanks!

    draughty vent axia

Hallo John! Happy new year. Well, the electric supply is a bit of a worry because the power point is to the right of the hob so might be too far and I'm glad the neighbour problem is sorted. Will it look unsightly outside and also can you get hoods that can be attached on a side wall? Are they...

    draughty vent axia

Hallo everyone, Just before Christmas I had the horrible extractor fan removed and hole filled in. What a difference - no draughts and just before all this cold weather. However, now I feel I need some kind of cooker hood as at the moment there is potentially a lot of condensation from the...
