Retro Fit Insect Screen - Trickle Vents

Hello, Social housing tenant here who had new windows installed over a year ago. Been getting dead bugs on the window sill and noticed there is no insect guards fitted in the trickle vents. Reply from housing is vents conform to building regs, so nothing they are prepared to do, but i can...

    New Install - Cooker Hood

That's fantastic, cheers Although that 2 core feeds the extractor fan - rather than replace, can i not just add a 3 core cable to run along side the existing cable for the cooker hood - putting 2 cables in each terminal? Got the 5A choc for the earth, I take it 3 core flex is acceptable rather...

    New Install - Cooker Hood

Just opened up the isolator switch, and it's a transformer not an isolator - it's connected to a 3A FCU switch just above the worktop. So thinking i just run 1.0mm2 cable from the N&L connectors to the new cooker hood, but what about an earth?

    New Install - Cooker Hood

I don't want to lift the boards above, but thanks for the idea - i think running off the existing extractor fan isolator is probably best. Cheers, think i'll run off the existing fan isolator - already have some trunking up there so a bit more won't hurt. If i didn't have fitted carpet above i...

    New Install - Cooker Hood

I wish to have a new cooker hood installed that will come with a plug, so need a single socket installed up high. Initial idea was to use a vacant single socket above the worktop, change this to an FCU and spur a socket above or in the wall unit adjacent to where the cooker hood needs to go...

    Tired looking blue altro flooring

Moved into the property 18 months ago now, and rapidly going through a refurbishment, next the shower-room. Going to put up some of those bathroom cladding panels down to where the altro flooring rides up, but the floor looks very tired, i wondered if to change it I would have to lift it, or...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

I'm beginning to think leave things as they are, perhaps open up the fan in the loft to see if the timer can be extended from the 7min it overruns now. We have started to see an improvement since leaving the windows ajar, so best to give that more time and see what happens. The thing that puts...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

My initial research showed that increasing ventilation with a piv unit with heater would give the best resolve. Before i started researching it was obvious the condensation was forming much more on the middle pane, without a trickle vent, than the outer 2 panes with a trickle vent. So to me the...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

Not sure how they work, but it is a brand new model, which we ensure all filters are cleaned out after each use. We use it half a day, twice a week, and when we do, we open the windows wider. Yes the humidity reading rises, but after a couple of hours goes back down to where it was. When we...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

The thermostat is placed in the hallway and is set at 21c constant and never turned off, although the display hasn't gone below this, i,e hallway temp above 21c so heating not come on. There are instances like this morning when it felt colder, thermostat showed 21.5c, so i turned it up to 22c...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

Thanks for your reply, I think the fan does a great job in the wet-room, it certainly clears steam from the mirror very quickly. The reason i took a photo of the pump was to see if i could increase the running time. It looks like you can but means opening it up which i'm not prepared to do. I...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

The windows have condensation on the inside of the windows 'some' evenings / mornings, typically when the outside temp plummets quickly. Never when we've had a shower, not even a slight fog. And upstairs that is what i cannot get my head around, the surveyor came in with his hygrometer gadget...

Pros and Cons - Passive vents in bedroom

I'm social housing tenant and I had a survey from a company called Airtech as we have condensation on the bedroom windows. Recommendations were to change fans in bathroom and kitchen to ones with a humidistat, and install passive air vents in the 2 bedrooms. The housing emailed me with the...
