Light with multiple bulbs burnt wiring help

The wires above the fitting feed into a little black box mounted in the ceiling. Is that the transformer? I've got an electrician friend who I know. I might detach it and take it over to him to see what he thinks...I may be able to bribe him with beer tokens...

Light with multiple bulbs burnt wiring help

It has 12 bulbs which are 10 watt 12volt. Which is what it says on the light fitting they should be. As I say in 5 years never had a problem, never changed a bulb either.

Light with multiple bulbs burnt wiring help

Thanks. Yes it is worrying. I think the light was from John Lewis so surprised it's such poor quality. I do like it, but if it's not safe, it's going in the skip.

Light with multiple bulbs burnt wiring help

Lamp was in the house when we moved in. Have never changed a bulb in 5 years in it so don't think it's been overloaded with high watt lamps. Shame as I really like this light fitting and would be a shame to throw away. Would it be a big job to rewire it?

Light with multiple bulbs burnt wiring help

Hi guys, recently one of our lights has been playing up. It's one with multi bulbs. Piccy below. I investigated tonight and noticed that some of the wiring appears burnt when I took the end cap off. A tad worrying. Is it fixable? Why has it happened? Thanks for your help

    Tap leaking (lever type)

Thanks very much for your replies and help. Gonna take a look at this on the weekend properly when I have more time. But essentially I see what you're saying now. I think the limescale is definitely holding those end bits on so I will leave a bit of penetrating fluid on over night to see if that...

    Tap leaking (lever type)

Have tried the shroud, and no budgie... I don't think it can be done by hand... Any help from these pics? Also looking into the hole where the handle unscrews there's no sign of any grub screws in there even when you turn it. The innards turn with the outer housing if that makes sense.

    Tap leaking (lever type)

Ah ok. Well here are a couple more pics of the tap with the handle unscrewed and removed. So If I give it a bit of persuasion then you reckon it should come away? To be honest it feels pretty tight. Should I use a rag and something to grip it with?

    Tap leaking (lever type)

Sorry I've just taken another closer look and hey presto there is one tiny grub screw and it is on the centre spout, not the handles though. So, I'm guessing that's what I need to unscrew to get into this. What's the basic process once I've undone that and do I need to turn the mains off...

    Tap leaking (lever type)

Thanks terryplumb for your help. I've had a look under the handles and there are no grub screws or anything. It just looks like one piece. The handles do unscrew off, but that doesn't appear to do anything. The tap is simply leaking from the spout. Only a drip, but it's annoying and I've been...

    Tap leaking (lever type)

Hi there, I have a leaking tap. It's the lever kind. I wondered if anyone could advise on how to access the washers so I can replace them? I attach a picture below. It's not obvious how this comes apart.. Advise greatly appreciated, Thanks, [/IMG] [/IMG]

    Removal of Blind - Help

Yep that worked great. Had to use a metal ruler and a bit of welly to release the arm as the clips were quite stiff as they haven't been moved for years. Clever design those brackets. Cheers again :-)

    Removal of Blind - Help

Thanks - I will check the ends for a plastic peg, but I've had a good look before and the blinds seem to fixed tight on these brackets - there are 3 of them. I know what you mean about the plastic pegs - I have some other blinds where these are used. But on this blind, I don't think it's the...

    Removal of Blind - Help

Hello, Hoping someone can help me please. I am trying to remove a blind so i can paint behind it, but i cannot see how to take it off. The blinds are on a right angled bracket and i cannot access the screw on the bracket into the wall - the blind is in the way. So from the top i have taken a...
